Mint essential oil for ingestion in case of stomach and intestinal disorders, for inhalation in case of cold with bronchial catarrh and for application in case of headache.

Japomine oil is an over-the-counter medicine whose active ingredient is pure mint oil. It is manufactured under the strictest quality controls. It does not contain any preservatives or dyes.

Application

Japomine oil is a traditional herbal medicine for use

  • in the case of colds of the respiratory tract such as coughing, also with viscous mucus (for the production of a vapor for inhalation),
  • for digestive problems such as bloating and flatulence (for oral use),
  • for symptomatic relief of muscle or nerve pain as well as, for example, mild tension-type headaches (to be applied to the skin),

The use of this traditional herbal medicinal product in the mentioned indications is based exclusively on many years of use.

If you do not feel better or even worse after 1 week (inhalation or ingestion) or 2 weeks (application on the skin), contact your doctor.

Contraindications

Japomin oil should not be used:

  • if you are allergic to mint oil or menthol.
  • in case of obstruction of the bile ducts, inflammation of the gallbladder and severe liver damage (when used internally).
  • on injured areas of the skin and on the eye (when used externally).
  • in infants and children under 2 years of age (risk of laryngeal spasm).
  • Japomine oil should not be used in patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with pronounced respiratory hypersensitivity because of the menthol content. Inhalation of japomine oil can cause shortness of breath or trigger an asthma attack.

Interactions

No interaction studies have been performed.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.

Pregnancy and lactation:
In the absence of sufficient data, its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding cannot be recommended. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you think you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Application

The recommended dose is:for colds of the respiratory tract such as coughing, also with viscous mucus:Inhalation:

Add 2 drops to hot water 3 - 3 times a day and inhale with your eyes closed.

If the symptoms worsen, or if there is no improvement within 1 week, a doctor must be consulted.

For digestive problems such as bloating and flatulence:
Take 2 drops diluted in a little warm water up to twice a day.

If the symptoms worsen, or if there is no improvement within 1 week, a doctor must be consulted.

For symptomatic relief of muscle or nerve pain as well as, for example, mild headaches of the tension type:
Apply 2-3 drops up to three times a day to the affected areas or to the temples, forehead and neck and massage in gently.

If the symptoms worsen, or if there is no improvement within 2 weeks, a doctor must be consulted.

Use in children This medicine should not be used in infants and children
under 2 years of age.

In the absence of sufficient data, it cannot be recommended for use in children from 2 to 12 years of age.

Side effects

Inhalation:
Respiratory paralysis, narrowing of the airways and larynx have been reported in hypersensitive individuals.

Application to the skin:
Hypersensitivity reactions such as rash, contact dermatitis, and eye irritation have been reported. Irritation (such as: burning and redness) of the skin and mucous membrane of the nose is possible after local application. In case of hypersensitivity, asthma-like reactions are possible.

Intake:
Sensitive people may experience stomach discomfort after ingestion, and patients with reflux (reflux of gastric juice into the esophagus) may experience increased heartburn.

Information on the frequency of occurrence of side effects cannot be given.

Japomine oil can cause laryngeal spasm in infants and young children up to 2 years of age, resulting in severe breathing disorders (see section 2).
