Effect

Glycerin suppositories have a physical effect on water and therefore stimulate the mucous membrane of the rectum to release water, making the thickened contents slippery.

Application and areas of application

The suppository is gently inserted into the anus. Unless otherwise prescribed, it is best to introduce it in the morning just before getting up. After insertion of the suppository, emptying should be delayed a little so that sufficient softening of the hardened stool masses can take place.

The effect starts after about 15-60 minutes.
