For whom is OMNi-LOGiC® APPLE PECTIN suitable?

Our intestinal bacteria have numerous tasks, including food conversion. What all our intestinal bacteria have in common is that they can be divided into two large groups, the so-called Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes. In a healthy intestinal flora, these two groups are present in an optimal ratio of 1:1, which means that there are approximately the same number of bacteria in the intestine.

In overweight people, however, it often happens that the intestinal flora is out of balance and the Firmicutes bacterial group predominates. The ratio can be shifted by up to 2,000:1. The intestine then contains 2,000 times more Firmicutes than Bacteroidetes!

Firmicutes have the special property that they can break down food components that are actually indigestible for humans (namely the so-called roughage and complex carbohydrates). This creates a lot of easily digestible carbohydrates in the intestines - much more than in an intestine with an optimal bacterial ratio - which are absorbed in addition to the calories eaten. This "hidden" intake can easily add up to 200 more calories - every day!

In addition, the shift in the bacterial ratio – towards the Firmicutes – can take on a life of its own: the more carbohydrates (e.g. sugar, pasta, etc.) are eaten, the more comfortable the Firmicutes feel and the better they can multiply in the intestine – a vicious circle has begun!

How does OMNi-LOGiC® APPLE PECTIN work?

Apple pectin is the optimal food source for Bacteroidetes - the bacteria that help eliminate sugar from the body. If the Bacteroidetes bacteria have enough apple pectin available, they multiply and settle in our body in the long term.

The supply of viable symbionts (= probiotics) strengthens the "good" intestinal bacteria. It also applies to these bacterial strains that they need oxygen for their metabolism - these are so-called aerobic or mostly only facultatively anaerobic bacteria.
