Dry, Damaged Nose? Why Your Mucous Membrane Needs More Than Just Saline

If your nose feels constantly dry, crusty, or irritated — even after a cold has come and gone — the problem might not be a new infection. It could be a damaged nasal mucous membrane that needs time, and the right kind of support, to repair itself.

This is exactly where COLDISTOP nasal oil comes in.

What Makes Nasal Mucosa "Damaged" in the First Place?

The lining inside your nose is delicate. It can become dry, cracked, or chronically irritated from:

  • A cold or sinus infection that left the mucosa inflamed
  • Overuse of decongestant nasal sprays
  • Dry indoor air, central heating, or air conditioning
  • Daily exposure to dust, smoke, or exhaust fumes
  • Recovery after nasal or sinus surgery
  • Atrophic rhinitis ("dry nose syndrome"), where the lining thins over time

Once the mucosa is compromised, it struggles to do its job — trapping particles, humidifying air, and defending against irritants. That's when oily, nourishing care becomes more useful than another round of water-based drops.

How COLDISTOP Nasal Oil Works

COLDISTOP is an oil-based nasal treatment built around vitamin A and vitamin E, two nutrients with a specific role in mucous membrane health:

  • Vitamin A supports the formation of new cells in the nasal lining and helps regulate mucus production.
  • Vitamin E supports vitamin A's effect and helps protect the membrane.
  • The oil base itself stimulates blood circulation in the mucosa and helps soften dried secretions and crusts — rather than just adding more moisture temporarily.

It's typically used for:

  • Acute and chronic dry rhinitis, including dryness left behind after a cold
  • Interval treatment alongside water-based decongestant drops
  • Atrophic rhinitis, to loosen and soften crusted secretions
  • Dry, chronic sore throat (pharyngitis sicca)
  • Tamponade care after nasal or sinus surgery
  • Protecting the nasal lining for people regularly exposed to dust or exhaust

How to Use It

Adults and adolescents (12+) apply 1–2 drops per nostril, 2–3 times daily, up to a maximum of 6 drops per nostril per day. Children aged 6–12 use 1 drop per nostril, twice daily. COLDISTOP is not recommended for children under 6.

If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or could become pregnant, talk to your doctor first — dosing limits are stricter due to vitamin A intake.

Note: COLDISTOP contains peanut and soy oil and should not be used by anyone with an allergy to either.

When to See a Doctor

If your symptoms haven't improved after one week of use, check in with your doctor rather than continuing on your own — they may want to look deeper into the underlying cause.
