Plantain syrup Avenisa is a multi-component syrup designed to alleviate problems with diseases of the upper respiratory tract. Syrups are generally liquid preparations based on a concentrated solution of sugar in water or in an herbal extract. They originated during the Arab development period of healing and remained popular until the middle of the 20th century as a taste correction and therapeutic. Today, this dosage form is limited to certain therapeutic applications, such as pediatric use. Some substances may be sensitive to light, so syrups are stored in dark bottles.

Active ingredients:
Plantain ( Plantago lanceolata ) - It has an inseparable place in folk medicine, not only in the Czech Republic, but is also recognized in China and India. The plant uses mainly leaves, the seeds are used for their ability to swell. However, another species is more used for these properties - Plantain flea ( Plantago psyllium ), which is widely used today in reduction diets. The effective content of plantain is mucilaginous substances. Internally, plantain is used in the form of an infusion in diseases of the upper respiratory tract with strong ingestion as an antitussive and expectorant. It is also used in chronic catarrh of the bronchi. It is given to children in the form of syrup. In addition, it has beneficial effects on bowel function, whether for diarrhea or constipation.

Thyme( Thymus vulgaris ) - A plant very often used for its taste buds in the kitchen. Its ancestral relationship with the motherwort predisposes it to a very similar use. The essential oil contains thymol, carvacrol, p-cymol and limonene. Other active ingredients are tannins, flavonoids and triterpenes. Thyme is used internally as an expectorant and bronchospasmolytic (acute and chronic bronchitis, cough), generally in upper respiratory catarrh. Antiseptic and antibacterial effects are used in inflammation of the oral cavity and pharyngeal region (mouthwash and gargle).

General thyme ( Thymus serpyllum) - Significant antiseptic and preservative properties of thyme were already known in ancient Egypt, where they were used in embalming. The most effective ingredient is essential oil, with a similar composition to thyme. Tea in the form of a pickle is good for dry, suffocating coughs, colds and hoarseness. It acts on the release of mucus as an expectorant.

Licorice ( Glycyrrhiza glabra ) - A widely used herb, used outside of medicinal purposes to flavor beer, confectionery and tobacco. Root pulp is added to mushroom mixtures. Licorice is one of the plants used only for internal use. The main component is glycosides. It is used for coughs, lung problems and hoarseness. Blue decoction has a laxative effect for children and can reduce fever.
