Maalox Oral suspension - 250 ml
Maalox suspension counteracts excessive acidity of gastric juice. Hydrochloric acid is present in the stomach and is responsible for the acidity of the stomach contents. The active substances in Maalox suspension have a strong neutralizing effect on hydrochloric acid and thus reduce the acidity of the stomach contents. Without consulting your doctor, Maalox suspension is used to treat problems related to excess stomach acid, such as heartburn or the return of acidic stomach contents back to the mouth. At the doctor's recommendation, it is used to treat inflammations of the gastric mucosa, inflammations of the esophagus, and may be part of the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcer.
Dosage and method of use
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Unless otherwise indicated, adults and adolescents aged 15 years and over take one tablespoon of suspension (1 tablespoon = 15 ml). Maalox suspension can be taken up to 6 times a day, and the maximum daily dose of 6 tablespoons should not be exceeded. Do not take the medicine for more than 2 weeks without consulting your doctor.
Ingredients
The active substances are aluminum hydroxide 8.75 g (equivalent to aluminum oxide 5.75 g) (as an aqueous suspension), magnesium hydroxide 10.0 g (as an aqueous suspension) in 250 ml oral suspension (one bottle of oral suspension). Each tablespoon (equivalent to 15 ml) of oral suspension contains aluminum hydroxide 525 mg and magnesium hydroxide 600 mg. The other ingredients are hydrochloric acid 10%, citric acid monohydrate, peppermint oil, mannitol, domifenium bromide, saccharin sodium, non-crystallising sorbitol 70%, purified water.
Contraindication
It is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 15 years of age. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
