B. Braun Askina DresSil Border is a self-holding foam wound dressing with a soft silicone adhesive layer on one side and a vapour permeable waterproof film on the other. It combines the absorption properties of the foam with the soft adhesion of the silicone contact surface. Askina DresSil Border helps maintain a moist wound environment that supports natural healing conditions. It allows effective wound healing and increases patient comfort by painless dressing changes.

Unique floral pattern facilitates exudate drainage

A unique feature of this covering is the floral pattern: holes arranged in a flower pattern facilitate the penetration of exudate through the adhesive layer into the absorbent foam. This results in faster absorption and safe adhesion to the surrounding skin. Another advantage is painless and easy removal of the bandage. Another advantage is the fact that there is no need for secondary dressing, only in the case of areas that are difficult to cover, provide extra coverage with plasters or bandages.

Exploitation:

  • pressure sores
  • venous and arterial leg ulcers
  • diabetic ulcers on the legs
  • first and second degree burns
  • Skin grafting sites
  • cracks of the skin

Use

According to the usual procedures, clean the wound with a suitable solution. Dry the skin around the wound. Choose a suitable size to cover the wound area, ensure that the foam part extends beyond the edges of the wound by 2-3 cm. Remove one of the protective films and attach the adhesive side to the wound. Straighten the dressing on the wound and remove the remaining protective film.

Replacement of covers:

The interval between dressing changes depends on the condition of the wound and the amount of exudate. The Askina DresSil Border dressing must be replaced when saturated with exudate: on average every 2 to 3 days or, in the case of a significant amount of exudate, every 24 hours. If leakage occurs, you must replace the dressing immediately.

Contraindication:

  • ulcers resulting from infection (e.g. tuberculosis, syphilis, or deep fungal infections)
  • third degree burns
  • If you show signs of infection or if the wound unexpectedly worsens, consult a specialist
  • Do not use together with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide

Notification

At the initial stage of treatment, the wound may seem to swell. This phenomenon is normal and arises from the fact that the edges of the wound are cleaned of the remnants of dead tissue and secretions. This facilitates the healing process. In some cases, the healing process may be disrupted by changes in general health; in this case, the results of treatment with Askina DresSil Border alone may be negligible or non-existent and the underlying disease should also be treated appropriately. If treatment with Askina DresSil Border does not lead to any improvement after 4-6 weeks, the original diagnosis and the entire treatment should be reconsidered in accordance with the general principles of wound management.
