Chronic skin wounds are often coated with stained, necrotic tissue and / or biofilm. These layers are difficult to remove and lead to delayed wound healing. Prontosan® Wound Irrigation Solution can remove these barriers to healing with its cleansing activity. Acute wounds also require proper cleaning because they are usually contaminated with dead tissue and microorganisms. These contaminants can disrupt the normal wound healing process and lead to complications such as infections. Due to the unique combination of ingredients, Prontosan® is ideal for preventing biofilm formation . The solution is not irritating and is well tolerated , application is painless. Prontosan® does not prevent granulation and epithelialization, but effectively removes biofilm and prevents its re-formation.

Use Prontosan® W solution for cleaning, rinsing and moisturizing:

acute uninfected and infected wounds - traumatic wounds (eg lacerations - lacerations, bites, cuts or crushed tissue) - postoperative wounds
chronic uninfected and infected wounds , including bedsores (pressure ulcers), venous ulcers, diabetic ulcers
first and second degree burns , chemical burns , radiation wounds, fistulas and abscesses, urological catheter access ports, PEG / PEJ tubing or drainage tubing, peristomal skin

Ingredients

Purified water, betaine surfactant, 0.1% polyaminopropyl biguanidine (polyhexanide).

Use

Prontosan® Wound Irrigation Solution should be used to clean wounds prior to treatment with Prontosan® Wound Gel or Prontosan® Wound Gel X. Application should be performed frequently to achieve and maintain a visually clean wound . The irrigation solution can be warmed to body temperature before use. Thoroughly clean the entire wound and the surrounding area. For minor and acute wounds, rinsing is sufficient . For wounds with a large area and difficult to access wounds, it is recommended to let the affected area soak for at least 15 minutes using a saturated covering material. The solution is used undiluted .

Prontosan® should not be used:

if it is known or suspected that the patient may be allergic to any of the ingredients in the product
on the CNS and meninges
in the middle and inner ear
in the eyes
on hyaline cartilage and in aseptic joint surgery. If Prontosan® comes in contact with aseptic cartilage, it should be irrigated immediately with Ringer's solution or saline.

in combination with cleansing soaps, ointments, oils, enzymes, etc. These substances must be carefully removed from the wound before use.
