The special vitamin C

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is involved in countless metabolic processes. Vitamin C plays a key role in the formation of collagen, which makes it important for the development and maintenance of skin, bones, gums and teeth. In addition, it improves iron absorption in the intestine and thus indirectly promotes blood formation. Probably the most well-known function of vitamin C is as an immune vitamin. It strengthens the body's own immune system against viral and bacterial infections, especially in the case of high levels of stress from sport or physical work. This requires at least 200 mg of vitamin C per day in addition to the recommended daily dose.
