Alpinamed Cough Remover – Drops are a herbal medicine used to relieve cough in catarrh of the respiratory tract. The active ingredient of this drug, a dry extract of ivy leaves, dilates the bronchi and leads to the dissolution of viscous secretion (mucus) in the respiratory tract. This makes it easier to cough up and reduces the urge to cough.

Contraindications

Alpinamed Cough Remover - Do not take drops if you are allergic to dry ivy leaf extract or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Interactions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Alpinamed cough remover drops. If there are prolonged complaints, shortness of breath, fever, purulent or bloody sputum, it is imperative to consult a doctor. Caution should be exercised in patients with gastritis or peptic ulcer.
Concomitant use with antitussives (medicines used to suppress coughing) such as codeine or dextromethorphan without medical advice is not recommended.

Taking Alpinamed Cough Remover – Drops with Food and Drink
Alpinamed Cough Remover – Drops can be taken with or without food. Interactions when taking Alpinamed cough remover drops and food or beverages at the same time have not yet been reported.


Pregnancy and breastfeeding If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you think you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. In the absence of sufficient data, it cannot be recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation.

Alpinamed Cough Remover – Drops contain macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate and fructose.

Application

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:

Children:

  • 1 – 11 months: 3 drops 6 times a day
  • 1 – 3 years: 3 drops 10 times a day
  • 4 – 11 years: 3 drops 4 to 20 times a day

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over:

  • 3 drops 4 to 30 times a day

The use of Alpinamed cough remover drops should only be carried out in infants after consultation with the doctor. Use in infants under 1 month of age cannot be recommended due to insufficient data.

Method of administration: For oral use.

The drops are to be taken undiluted or diluted with a small amount of liquid, regardless of meals.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Rarely (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people), allergic reactions (shortness of breath, swelling, rashes with and without blistering) are observed. Often (may affect up to 1 in 10 people), complaints of the gastrointestinal tract such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea may occur.

Composition

  • The active ingredient is: dry extract of ivy leaves. 100 g contains: 1.98 g dry extract of ivy leaves (DEV = 6 – 7 : 1). Extracting agent ethanol 40 % m/m
  • The other ingredients are: maltodextrin, povidone K 30, propylene glycol, flavoring (cherry juice flavor, contains, fructose), macrogol glycerol gydroxystearate, acesulfame potassium, simeticone, purified water.
  • 1 ml (20 drops) corresponds to 1.07 g and contains 21 mg of ivy leaf dry extract.
