Aknichthol Lotio 30g

To reduce the number of comedones in mild and moderate acne vulgaris.

1. What is Aknichthol® - Lotio and what is it used for?

AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio is an acne agent that is to be applied to the skin. It contains sulfonated shale oil (sodium bituminosulfonate (Ichthyol® sodium), light) and inhibits the increased formation of sebum ('oily skin'), has an anti-inflammatory and mildly bactericidal effect. Salicylic acid supports the absorption of ichthyol bright into the skin through its pH-lowering effect.
AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio is used to reduce the number of comedones in mild and moderate acne vulgaris.

2. What do you have to consider before using Aknichthol® - Lotio?

AKNICHTHOL - Lotio must not be used
if you are hypersensitive to sulfonated shale oils such as B. ammonium bituminosulfonate and / or sodium bituminosulfonate, salicylic acid and salicylates or any of the other ingredients.

Special care is required when using Aknichthol® - Lotio.
Do not use in the area of ​​the eyes or the mucous membranes (mouth, nose) as this can cause irritation (burning sensation).
Because of the salicylic acid content, long-term treatment of large areas in patients with impaired kidney function and use in infants should be avoided. In exceptional cases AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio should be used for a maximum of 3 days on a skin area to be treated of up to 10 cm2.
If the complaints persist or if the expected success through the application does not occur, a medical consultation is required at the earliest.

Using Aknichthol® - Lotio with other medicaments
Please inform a doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used any other medicaments, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

The simultaneous additional use of other products to be applied on the skin, including cosmetics, can impair the effectiveness of AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio. Sodium bituminosulfonate, light can increase the solubility of other active ingredients and thus increase their absorption into the skin. Salicylic acid can make the skin more permeable to other topically administered drugs. The ingested salicylic acid can interact with methotrexate (cytostatic agent / tumor growth inhibitor) and sulfonylureas (oral antidiabetic agent / blood sugar lowering agent).

pregnancy and breast feeding period
There are no human data on the use of AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The available animal studies do not allow any statement to be made as to whether treatment with AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio has a harmful effect on pregnancy or the development of the offspring, and there are no studies on the transfer into breast milk.
You must therefore not use AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Driving

and using machines
AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

3. How should AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio be used?

Always use AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio exactly as instructed in this
package insert. Please ask a doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor , AKNICHTHOL lotio is used twice a day. Twice a day, morning and evening, clean the affected skin areas using a soap-free skin cleanser and dry gently.
Shake the bottle well, put about 20 drops of the lotio on a swab and distribute it evenly on the skin so that the affected skin areas are lightly covered. Apply the lotio in the beard area in the direction of the beard growth. Eyelids and lips should not be treated. The duration of treatment depends on the type and extent of the disease. Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the duration of treatment should be a maximum of 12 weeks.

In children, the daily dose of 0.2 g salicylic acid (corresponding to 40 g solution) must not be exceeded. Use in infants should be avoided.

Please speak to a doctor if you have the impression that the effect of AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio is too weak or too strong.

If you have used more AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio than you should
. Skin irritation may occur during use. Ask a doctor how to proceed.

If you forget to use AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio If you have
forgotten a single dose, do not use double the amount of AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio for the following treatment, but start the treatment again with the intended dose.

If you stop treatment with AKNICHTHOL® - Lotio
Please discuss the further course of action with a doctor, as the success of the treatment is endangered.

4. What side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, AKNICHTHOL - Lotio can cause side effects, although not every patient will experience them. Please inform a doctor or pharmacist if one of the listed side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet.

Immune system disorders
Very rare (less than 1 user in 10,000): contact allergy. In such cases, contact a doctor.

Skin and subcutaneous
tissue disorders The alcohol-containing base can occasionally (1 to 10 patients in 1,000) cause severe dehydration of the skin. In these cases, the skin should be treated with low-fat creams (of the O / W type) in between.
In rare cases (1 to 10 patients in 10,000) there may be intolerance reactions (intense itching, burning, increased reddening) of the skin.

5. How should Aknichthol® - Lotio be stored?

Do not store above 25 ° C.
Store drug out of reach of children.
Once opened, you can use the medicine up to the expiry date.
Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack after "use by".
