Due to its composition, Insecticum Gel quickly develops a pain-relieving, anti-itching, cooling and decongestant effect. The alcoholic, fat-free gel base also has a disinfecting effect.
The local anesthetic benzocaine inhibits the excitability of the sensitive nerve fibers. This results in rapid pain and itching relief in the affected areas of the skin.
Diphenhydramine is a proven histamine inhibitor and has an antiallergic effect against hypersensitivity reactions of the skin. It quickly eliminates itching and also counteracts swelling and redness.
The combination of the two active ingredients benzocaine and diphenhydramine increases their pain and itching-relieving effect.
L-Menthol creates a refreshing cold feeling on the skin, which helps to alleviate the symptoms.

field of use

For pain, itching, swelling and redness after insect bites (such as mosquitoes, gnats, horseflies, bees, wasps and hornets). After contact with nettles.

Contraindications

Insecticum Gel must not be used
if you or your child are hypersensitive (allergic) to any of the active ingredients or other ingredients of Insecticum Gel, including other local anaesthetics.
on open wounds or mucous membranes in the
case of extensive skin changes such as severe burns or scalds, acute inflammation and weeping or suppurating skin diseases.
in patients with chickenpox, measles and blistering of the skin.

interactions

There are no known interactions with other drugs.

In the case of large-scale application, however, interactions cannot be ruled out with certainty. This applies in particular to the simultaneous use of drugs such as diphenhydramine, so-called "MAO inhibitors" (medicines against depression), atropine, so-called "tricyclic antidepressants" (medicines against depression), drugs that depress the nervous system such as psychotropic drugs, sleeping pills, certain ( opioid-containing) painkillers, antihypertensive drugs and alcohol, since there can be an unforeseeable mutual increase in effect.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using Insecticum Gel. Insecticum Gel must not be used in the first trimester of pregnancy. During the rest of the pregnancy, Insecticum Gel may only be used on small areas in order to keep any absorption into the body as low as possible.
Insecticum Gel should not be used during breastfeeding, as diphenhydramine passes into breast milk.

application

Children (over 2 years), adolescents and adults:
Apply an approx. 0.5 cm long strip of Insecticum Gel to the affected areas of skin as early as possible and massage in gently if necessary. If necessary, the application can be repeated 3 to 4 times a day.

side effects

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders:
Very rarely - less than 1 in 10,000 patients - allergic skin reactions and photosensitivity of the skin with reddening, itching, blisters or swelling of the skin can occur.

Systemic reactions:
In individual cases, hypersensitivity reactions, dry mouth, tiredness, difficulty urinating and, especially in children, states of excitement such as restlessness, fear and cramps can occur after extensive application over large areas. In this case, please inform a doctor immediately!
