Bayer Berocca plus zinc 30 tablets
Bayer Berocca plus zinc 30 tablets
Vitamins and minerals are essential nutrients for all living organisms. The human body cannot produce the vitamins and minerals it needs on its own. In order to maintain its health and functionality, the body must absorb these substances daily in sufficient quantities through food. Water-soluble vitamins, such as the B vitamins and vitamin C, are not stored in the body to any significant extent. Therefore, the supply of water-soluble vitamins may be insufficient in the elderly, in pregnant and breastfeeding women, during a diet or in the case of certain chronic diseases, during intensive physical training and during prolonged stressful situations and chronic alcohol abuse. In smokers and in women
B vitamins
The B vitamins are involved in a wide variety of reactions in cell metabolism. This also includes reactions that lead to the formation of substances that play a role in the transmission of nerve impulses in the body.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is an antioxidant that plays an important role in the inactivation of free radicals. Vitamin C plays a role in many enzymatic functions, such as cholesterol metabolism, bile acid metabolism and drug metabolism. Vitamin C improves the absorption of iron from the intestine and influences the folic acid metabolism and the function of the white blood cells. It also improves the formation of connective tissue and is important for the development and function of the teeth, skeleton and capillaries.
Calcium
Calcium, along with vitamin B6 and magnesium, is required for some complicated physiological processes, enzymatic functions and nerve impulse transmission.
Magnesium
Magnesium is involved in a number of processes in the body, such as the formation of proteins, fat metabolism, the burning of sugar and cellular respiration.
Zinc
Zinc is an important trace element. It is a structural component of many proteins, hormones, neuropeptides and hormone receptors and is necessary for many enzymatic functions.
BEROCCA does not contain any fat-soluble vitamins.
field of use
BEROCCA contains all 8 B vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium and zinc as active ingredients. BEROCCA is used to treat a deficiency in and an increased need for B vitamins, vitamin C and zinc.
Ask your doctor for advice if you do not feel better or if you feel worse.
Contraindications
BEROCCA must not be taken
- if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- if you suffer from hypercalcaemia or hypercalciuria (excess calcium in the body or urine), kidney or bladder stones.
- if you have increased levels of oxalic acid in your urine or impaired kidney function.
Children
BEROCCA is not recommended for children under 11 years of age.
interactions
- Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) can interfere with the determination of glucose in urine or blood. The administration of vitamin C should therefore be stopped a few days before performing a glucose test.
- A pyridoxine dose of more than 5 mg reverses the effect of levodopa, which is used to treat Parkinson's disease. However, this does not happen when levodopa is taken with carbidopa or benserazide.
- Please tell your doctor if you are taking deferoxamine (eg: to treat excess iron buildup in your body), as taking deferoxamine and vitamin C at the same time can affect your heart. Vitamin C can also affect the effects of cyclosporine, disulfiram and warfarin.
- Chloramphenicol can reduce the absorption of vitamin B12 in the digestive tract.
- Folic acid can affect methotrexate (used to treat cancer such as leukemia).
- Tell your doctor if you use diuretics, as they can increase levels of calcium, magnesium, or zinc depending on the type of diuretic.
- If you are taking antibiotics, levothyroxine (thyroid hormone), methyldopa (used to treat high blood pressure), mycophenolate mofetil (for transplants) or eltrombopag (for low platelet counts), take this product either 2 hours before or 4 hours after taking them to keep interactions to a minimum.
Taking BEROCCA with food and drink
Iron: Vitamin C can increase iron absorption, especially in patients with iron deficiency.
Calcium, magnesium and zinc:
Because oxalic acid (from spinach and rhubarb) and phytic acid (from cereal grains) can inhibit the absorption of calcium, magnesium and zinc, do not take this medicine within 2 hours of ingesting foods containing high levels of oxalic acid or phytic acid is recommended.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy: If the recommended dosage is followed, there is no evidence of harmful effects on the unborn child/newborn. However, BEROCCA should only be taken during pregnancy if recommended by a doctor.
Breast-feeding: The vitamins and minerals contained in BEROCCA pass into breast milk. However, if the recommended dosage is followed, it is unlikely to cause any harmful effects in the child.
The specified dose should not be exceeded, since chronic overdose is harmful to the unborn child and newborn.
Fertility: There is no evidence that this product affects fertility.
BEROCCA contains vitamin B2
After taking BEROCCA, the urine takes on an unusual yellow colour. This can be attributed to the vitamin B2 contained in the product. This discoloration is completely harmless.
BEROCCA contains sweeteners
Sweeteners: BEROCCA is sweetened with mannitol E421 and lactose.
Please only take BEROCCA after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from a sugar intolerance.
Diabetics: Diabetics can take BEROCCA because one film-coated tablet contains 25 mg mannitol, 94 mg lactose monohydrate and 13 mg polydextrose. This corresponds to 0.02 bread units (BE) (ie 0.14 kcal).
application
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose for adults and children over 11 years of age is 1 film-coated tablet daily. One tablet should be taken daily whole with a glass of water, preferably with a meal.
