application
The history of the world-famous Ceylon tea begins in 1870. It was the Scotsman James Taylor who first cultivated tea in Ceylon, today's Sri Lanka. Tea is pretty demanding. It grows best on warm slopes above 1,200 m above sea level with high humidity and sufficient rainfall. We use the best of the resulting organic tea varieties for KOTTAS Ceylon Gold. Which delights and invigorates with its full-bodied and typical aroma and the productive gold-colored infusion.
Our Austrian family business was founded in 1795 and has been dealing with the use and processing of herbs for 8 generations, based on the knowledge of our Alpine herbal tradition.
The range includes the most common medicinal herbs in Europe, most of which come from wild collections. Whenever possible, we use herbs of Austrian origin for our medicinal specialties. But we also have good and long-term trading relationships with many herbal growers worldwide.
It is particularly important to us that the knowledge and tradition of collecting herbs is preserved - recognizing the plants, the "harvest" at the right time and, above all, sustainable collection.
Sustainable means that the medicinal herbs are collected and cut in such a way that the plants can grow back sufficiently. Collecting is also a not insignificant economic factor for many regions.
This supports socially disadvantaged areas. In addition to wild collections, herbs from strictly controlled agriculture are used. In our production, the plants are processed gently and are subject to quality control according to the strict regulations of various pharmacopoeias and special specialist literature.
The special quality of our herbs is defined by the term pharmacopeia quality or pharmacy quality. Only this guarantees the rich content of ingredients and the purity through precise pollutant controls!
Most of the recipes in our rich range of herbal teas consist of traditional, in-house recipes. The correct use of medicinal herbs is an important part of our European cultural heritage, which we, as one of the leading producers of tea specialties, would like to contribute to preserving.
We produce medicinal teas that are registered as traditional herbal medicines, as well as many feel-good teas.
