The recommended dose is
For adults and adolescents from 12 years:
1 - 2 tablets up to 3 times a day to achieve a mild laxative effect. The dose required for a safe effect can vary from person to person. If a stronger laxative effect is desired, the evening dose can be increased to 3-4 tablets. You should not exceed a maximum dose of 8 tablets per day. The occurrence of diarrhea is the first sign of too high a dosage. In this case, the dose should be reduced or the intake should be stopped.
Use in children
Eucarbon tablets are not intended for children under 12 years of age.
Eucarbon tablets should be taken with plenty of liquid (at least a glass of water) with or after meals.
side effects
Like all medicines, Eucarbon can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Occasional abdominal pain and diarrhea have been observed, especially in patients with irritable bowel syndrome or those who have taken too high a dose. Very rarely (less than 1 person in 10,000) nausea or vomiting may occur.
Rarely allergic reactions can occur.
As with other laxatives, long-term use of high doses can lead to mineral depletion, particularly potassium depletion, which can increase constipation. This can manifest itself as muscle weakness and constipation due to restricted bowel movements.
A faint red coloration of the urine is irrelevant and can occasionally be observed in its alkaline reaction.
