Erwo Pharma Recessan ointment 10 gr

Recessan ointment contains polidocanol, an active ingredient for local anesthesia. Recessan ointment is used for the short-term and pain-relieving treatment of pressure pain caused by dentures as part of dental therapy.

Contraindications

Recessan ointment must not be used if you are allergic to polidocanol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

interactions

Tell your doctor, dentist or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription. The use of Recessan ointment can increase the effect of other local anesthetics (local anaesthetics).

After using Recessan ointment, you should not eat or drink for 1 hour because the preparation forms an adhesive film that would then be removed prematurely.

pregnancy and breast feeding period

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor, dentist or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. There are insufficient data on the use of polidocanol in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Therefore, Recessan ointment should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after a careful benefit/risk assessment by the doctor.

application

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, dentist or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor, dentist or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor or dentist, apply a pea-sized piece of Recessan ointment lightly to the pain and pressure points 3-5 times a day.

Recessan ointment should not be rubbed in.

In the case of dentures, please apply Recessan ointment to the cleaned and still damp dentures or immediate dentures. The use of an additional adhesive is not necessary.

side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following side effects are very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people) or only isolated cases:

Diseases of the immune system: Allergic (hypersensitivity) reaction, often accompanied by a drop in blood pressure, dizziness, nausea and possibly shortness of breath (anaphylactic reaction)

Nervous system disorders: taste disturbance, burning, changed sensitivity in the oral mucosa, slight and temporary numbness of the tongue, throat and mouth (oral hypoaesthesia)

Gastrointestinal disorders: Application site discolouration. Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders. Allergic painful swelling of the skin and mucous membranes, especially on the face, e.g. B. the eyelids, lips or larynx (angioedema, Quincke's edema)

General disorders and administration site conditions: allergic reaction, skin rash, localized swelling

composition

The active substance is: Polidocanol
1 g ointment contains 30 mg polidocanol.

The other ingredients are: aluminum lactate, bitter fennel oil, sodium alginate, liquid paraffin, sodium saccharin, sage oil, colloidal anhydrous silica, star anise oil, thymol, titanium dioxide (E171), white petroleum jelly.
