Activir - cold sore cream is an externally applied drug with the active ingredient aciclovir. This virus inhibitor causes a targeted inhibition of virus replication in human cells affected by herpes viruses. This will help the viral infection (“fever blister”) to subside.
Activir - Fever Blister Cream is used to relieve pain and itching associated with cold sores on the face. The cold sore cream should be applied thinly to the affected areas of skin.

Contraindications

Do not use Activir - Fever Blister Cream if you are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir, propylene glycol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

interactions

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines. There is currently no evidence of any interactions between Activir - Fever Blister Cream and other active ingredients.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using any medicine. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. Your doctor will decide on the use of Activir cold sore cream during pregnancy on a case-by-case basis. When using Activir cold sore cream, the absorption of the active substance into the body is very low. The dose achieved by a breastfed baby following the mother's application of Activir Cold Sores Cream is negligible.

application

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:

Activir - fever blister cream should be applied to the affected skin areas 5 times a day at regular intervals (every 4 hours). When applying, care should be taken not only to cover the already visible signs of herpes (bubbles, swelling, redness) with the cream, but also to include adjacent areas in the treatment.

The duration of treatment is usually 4 days. If a worsening occurs during treatment or if the blisters have not crusted over or healed after 10 days of treatment at the latest, a doctor should be consulted. Treatment with Activir - fever blister cream should be started as soon as possible, when the first signs such as itching, redness and a feeling of tension appear. However, the treatment can also be started at a later point in time (when nodules or a cold sore appear).

Please follow the recommended dosages exactly. If applied by hand, it should be washed thoroughly before and after to prevent additional infection of the damaged skin area or transmission to other people.
