Hova film-coated tablets are a combination of herbal active ingredients with a calming and sleep-inducing effect. These are used for nervous-related problems falling asleep and staying asleep, restlessness and nervousness.
If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 4 weeks, contact your doctor.
Contraindications
Do not take Hova film-coated tablets if you are allergic to dry extracts of valerian root and hop cones or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
interactions
Take special care when taking Hova film-coated tablets
- in children between 6 and 12 years of age. Since nervousness and sleep problems in children can have a variety of causes, Hova film-coated tablets should only be used in children between 6 and 12 years of age if recommended by a doctor.
- Hova film-coated tablets are not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
Taking Hova film-coated tablets with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines. The effect of Hova film-coated tablets can be increased if you take other sedatives or sleeping pills at the same time.
Taking Hova film-coated tablets with food, drink and alcohol
The effect of Hova film-coated tablets is increased if alcohol is taken at the same time.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. So far, no harmful effects during pregnancy and breastfeeding have become known. There are no studies on the safety of use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. As a precaution, Hova film tablets should therefore not be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Ability to drive and use machines
Hova film-coated tablets may affect the ability to drive and use machines. Driving or operating machines should therefore be avoided when taking higher doses that induce sleepiness.
application
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the stated dosage must be strictly observed.
The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with some liquid. A natural valerian odor is typical of this herbal medicinal product.
For sleep disorders caused by nervousness:
- Adults and adolescents from 12 years: 2 film-coated tablets half an hour before bedtime.
- Children from 6-12 years (if recommended by the doctor): 1 film-coated tablet half an hour before bedtime.
For restlessness, nervousness and anxiety:
- Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 1 film-coated tablet 1-3 times a day.
- Children from 6-12 years (if recommended by the doctor): 1 film-coated tablet 1-2 times a day.
There is insufficient experience for use in children under the age of 6 years.
Duration of use: Hova film-coated tablets work best when used for 2 to 4 weeks. If used as directed, there is no risk of habituation and no impairment of performance the next day. If the symptoms persist or if the expected success from the application does not occur, medical advice is required as soon as possible.
side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Headaches or slight disturbances in the gastrointestinal tract (nausea, abdominal cramps) are possible. Allergic skin reactions cannot be excluded. The frequency of occurrence is not known.
composition
The active ingredients are: 200.2 mg dry extract of Valerinae radix (valerian root extract 4 – 7: 1), extraction agent: ethanol 70% v/v, 45.5 mg dry extract of Lupuli flos (hop cone extract 4 – 8: 1) , extraction agent: methanol 40% v/v.
The other ingredients are: Glucose syrup (dried), maltodextrin, colloidal anhydrous silica, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, lactose, methyl hydroxypropyl cellulose, titanium dioxide E 171, polyethylene glycol 4000, quinoline yellow E 104 laked with aluminum hydroxide, indigotine E 132 laked with aluminum hydroxide, polyethylene glycol 6000.
