Pyridoxin (vitamin B 6 ) is one of the water-soluble vitamins.
- It is necessary for the enzymes involved in the decomposition and utilization of proteins, sugars and fats from food, and for the conversion of storage sugars in the liver and muscle to energy.
- It is important for the normal functioning of the central nervous system and the skin.
- It is important for the formation of red blood cells and antibodies.
Lack of vitamin B 6 is manifested by weakness, irritability, skin diseases, inflammation of the mouth, lips cracking and changes in red blood cell counts. It is often associated with vitamin B deficiency in group B.
