Regaine
Regaine 5% solution for the scalp 180 ml
Regaine 5% solution for the scalp 180 ml
Rogaine prevents hereditary hair loss in men between the ages of 18 and 65 and stimulates hair growth. In addition, it promotes the regrowth of new hair in already thinning or bald areas and strengthens existing downy hair.
After application, Rogaine penetrates the scalp and reaches the hair roots. The mechanism by which it stimulates hair growth has not yet been clarified. However, the active substance in Rogaine can stop hereditary hair loss by:
- Increased the diameter of the hair shaft
- Stimulates growth and
- The growth phases of the hair are extended
But it takes at least four months before you can see any success. If hair roots are still present, fine light downy hairs can grow back, which become longer, denser and darker over time. How quickly hair starts to grow and how much hair grows back varies from patient to patient. Large areas of baldness or hair loss that has been present for more than 10 years respond less well to Rogaine.
Contraindications
Do not use Rogaine
- if you are allergic to minoxidil or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- in women (The 2% solution is available for women.)
Certain forms of hair loss can be a sign of a physical illness. If this happens, Rogaine will not work and it is important for your health that you see a doctor:
- Sudden onset of severe hair loss
- Extensive hair loss (e.g. circular hairless areas form)
Rogaine will also not work if the hair loss is due to any of the following:
- Use or intake of certain medicines (e.g. against cancer) Here, at most, a more rapid regrowth of the hair can be promoted.
- severe nutritional problems (very low iron levels, vitamin A overdose)
- Discontinuation of the "pill" intake (The hormonal change can lead to a short-term increase in hair loss. However, this does not usually require drug treatment.)
- Scalp damaged by scarring or burns because hair roots are no longer present
-
Hairstyles in which the hair is pulled tautly from the scalp (e.g. horsetail)
In this case you need to eliminate the mechanical irritation.
If you are unsure about the causes of hair loss, you should consult your doctor.
interactions
So far no interactions with Rogaine are known. To be on the safe side, do not use Rogaine on the scalp at the same time as other medicines.
It cannot be completely ruled out that the effect of blood pressure-lowering medicines can be somewhat increased.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Rogaine 5% is only indicated for use in male patients.
There is little experience of the use of Rogaine in pregnancy. Minoxidil that is absorbed into the body passes into breast milk. Rogaine should therefore not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
application
Rogaine is intended for external use on a dry scalp. Please only use Rogaine on healthy, uninjured scalp and follow the following instructions carefully. Do not apply Rogaine to any part of the body other than the scalp.
The recommended dose is:
In the morning and in the evening, apply 1 ml of Rogaine to the thinning or balding areas of the scalp. Rogaine is very easy to spread - 1 ml is enough for large areas. You must not use more than a total of 2 ml of solution per day.
Apply the solution by gently stroking, starting from the center of the affected areas. Your scalp and hair must be completely dry. Please wash your hands after use so that the medicine does not accidentally come into contact with your eyes or mucous membranes.
If you use Rogaine regularly twice a day, you will see new hair after about four months. The hair loss is stopped earlier.
Each pack contains two different applicators (certified medical devices).

Some patients notice increased hair loss after starting treatment with Rogaine. This is presumably due to the Minoxidil effect, which transfers the hair from the resting phase to the growth phase (old hair falls out and makes room for new growth). This temporarily increased hair loss usually begins 2 - 6 weeks after the start of use and disappears by itself within a few weeks. If it lasts longer than two weeks without any noticeable improvement, please stop using it and consult a doctor.
