Sanova Dorithricin Throat 20 tablets

Dorithricin throat lozenges contain benzocaine as a surface anesthetic and the germ-inhibiting and germicidal substances tyrothricin and benzalkonium chloride. Due to this combination of active ingredients, this drug is used as a mouth and throat therapeutic agent.

For the supportive treatment of mild to moderate inflammation of the throat and oral cavity, such as

• Sore throat and sore throat with difficulty swallowing
• sore throat
• Inflammation of the oral mucosa and gums.

If you have a severe sore throat or sore throat accompanied by fever, headache, nausea or vomiting, consult a doctor before use.

Contraindications

Dorithricin throat lozenges should not be taken

• if you are allergic to tyrothricin, benzalkonium chloride, benzocaine or any of the other ingredients of Dorithricin Throat Lozenges (listed in section 6), especially paragroup allergy or allergy to quaternary ammonium salts
• for larger fresh wounds in the mouth and throat.
• from children under 2 years of age, since the correct type of application (sucking) is not guaranteed here. 

interactions

When used as intended, no interactions with other drugs have become known.

The effect of the benzalkonium chloride can be reduced by the simultaneous use of anionic surfactants (e.g. toothpaste).

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

So far, there have been no indications that Dorithricin throat lozenges have a teratogenic effect. However, as a precautionary measure, Dorithricin throat lozenges should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or only if strictly indicated by a doctor.

Dorithricin throat lozenges contains sorbitol
. If you know that you suffer from sugar intolerance, please consult your doctor before taking Dorithricin throat lozenges.

application

The recommended dose is

Adults and adolescents from the age of 12:
1-2 lozenges several times a day (every 2-3 hours). A daily dose of 8 lozenges should not be exceeded.

Children:
There are no studies on children under the age of 12 that demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of Dorithricin throat lozenges in this age group. Therefore, no dose recommendation can be given for children aged 6-12 years.

Use in children under the age of 6 is not recommended as controlled sucking cannot be guaranteed in this age group.

Dorithricin - Throat Lozenges must not be used in children under 2 years of age, since the appropriate type of application (sucking) is not guaranteed.

Method of application:
For use in the oral cavity

Dorithricin - Throat Lozenges slowly dissolve in the mouth. Don't let it melt in your cheek pouch and don't bite or swallow it.
Dorithricin throat lozenges should not be used shortly before or after brushing your teeth, as toothpaste reduces their effectiveness.

Duration of use:
Treatment with Dorithricin throat lozenges should be continued for one day after the symptoms have subsided.
If you have a severe sore throat or sore throat accompanied by fever, headache, nausea or vomiting, consult a doctor before use.
Please follow the instructions for use, otherwise Dorithricin throat lozenges will not work properly!

If you do not feel better or even worse after 2 days, you definitely need to see a doctor. 

side effects

Like all medicines, Dorithricin - Throat Lozenges can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):

• Hypersensitivity reactions (skin), especially to para-aminobenzoic acid ester (benzocaine). Paragroup sensitization (e.g. to penicillins, sulfonamides, sunscreen cosmetics, p-aminosalicylic acid) can be caused in sensitive patients.
• Hypersensitivity reactions (including shortness of breath) can be triggered by mint oil in sensitized patients.
• Altered sense of taste or numbness of the tongue.
• Applying tyrothricin to fresh wounds may cause bleeding.

Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):

• Elevated levels of methaemoglobin in the blood have been reported with topical application, especially in children, when applied to larger wound areas, and when sprays containing benzocaine were used. This can cause headaches, drowsiness and blue discolouration of the skin and mucous membranes.
• Laxative effect due to the sorbitol content, especially at high doses.

composition

The active substances are tyrothricin, benzalkonium chloride, benzocaine:
1 lozenge contains:
tyrothricin 0.5 mg
benzalkonium chloride 1.0 mg
benzocaine 1.5 mg

The other ingredients are:
sorbitol (E420), talc, sucrose stearate type III, saccharin sodium dihydrate, mint oil, povidone 25, carmellose sodium.
