Contraindications

Scottopect jelly must not be used

• if you are allergic to turpentine oil, eucalyptus oil, thyme oil, menthol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
• Scottopect - jelly must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to peanut or soy.
• in patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with marked hypersensitivity of the airways. Inhaling Scottopect jelly can cause shortness of breath or trigger an asthma attack.
• in infants and young children under 2 years of age (risk of laryngeal spasm).
• in the case of damaged or inflamed skin, open wounds, burns or skin and children's diseases with a rash (exanthema).

interactions

Eucalyptus oil can affect the breakdown of foreign substances in the liver, the effect of other medicines can be weakened and/or shortened. This cannot be ruled out in the case of large-scale use.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

In the absence of sufficient data, use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended.

Scottopect jelly should not be applied to the breast area of ​​the breastfeeding mother during breastfeeding, as the risk of laryngeal spasms in the child during drinking cannot be ruled out.

application

The recommended dose is:

To apply on skin:

Adults and adolescents from the age of 12:
2-3 times a day (in any case before going to bed) apply a 4 cm long strand of gel to the chest, back and neck, rub in lightly and cover with a warm cloth.

Children from 2 to 12 years:
2-3 times a day (in any case before going to bed) apply a 2 cm long strand of gel to the chest, back and neck, rub in lightly and cover with a warm cloth.

Children under 2 years of age:
Due to the camphor and menthol content, use in infants and children up to 2 years of age is not indicated (see Contraindications section).

For inhalation:

Adults and adolescents from 12 years:
Dissolve a 2-4 cm long piece of gel in hot water and breathe in the vapors through your nose and mouth.

Children from 6 to 12 years:
Dissolve a 2 cm piece of gel in hot water, allow the water to cool slightly and inhale the vapors through your nose and mouth.

Children under 6 years:
Because of the camphor and menthol content, use in infants and children up to 2 years of age is not indicated (see Contraindications section). Inhalation use is not recommended in children under 6 years of age due to insufficient data.

Method of application:
For application on the skin or for inhalation.

Duration of use:
If you do not feel better or worse after 3-5 days, contact your doctor.

side effects

Allergic reactions and spasms of the respiratory muscles are possible. Inhaling essential oils can cause coughing.

Scottopect jelly can cause laryngeal spasms in infants and children up to 2 years of age, resulting in severe breathing disorders.
Hypersensitivity reactions of the skin (e.g. reddening, irritation) or a contact allergy (e.g. contact eczema) are possible.

Information on the frequency of occurrence of side effects cannot be given.
