Kreon 25,000 is used on the recommendation of a doctor for the treatment of digestive insufficiency in chronic pancreatitis, inflammation of the gallbladder with gallstones, liver cirrhosis and cystic fibrosis, as well as for enzyme replacement after gastric resections, pancreatic surgery and enzyme replacement in the case of insufficient pancreatic secretion.

Creon 25,000can be used by adults and children and adolescents.

Characteristic:

The technological process of producing Creon 25,000 allows optimal use of the enzymatic activities of pancreatine for food digestion. The mini-micropellets are coated with an acid-resistant layer, contain all pancreatic enzymes and are enclosed in a lightly soluble gelatin capsule.

The capsule dissolves in the stomach within 2-3 minutes, the mini-micropellets are released and evenly mixed with the chyme. After entering the duodenum, there is a rapid release of enzymes from the minimicropellets, and thus the digestive process is supported.

Composition – active ingredients:

Pancreatin from Porcine Pancreas 300 mg in 1 gelatin capsule with acid-ore Mini-Pellets containing 25,000 U.S. Ph.Eur. lipase, 18,000 j. Ph.Eur. amylase and 1,000 j. Ph.Eur. proteases.

Composition – excipients:

Macrogol 4000, light liquid paraffin, hypromellose phthalate, dimethicone 1000, dibutyl phthalate.

The capsule contains: gelatin, red iron oxide, yellow iron oxide, titanium dioxide.

Indication group:

Pancreatic enzymes.

Contraindication:

Creon 25,000 must not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to pig pancreatine or any other ingredient of the product.

Non-desirable effects:

The incidence of side effects is very low. Most often, abdominal pain may occur, less often constipation, stool changes, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and skin allergic reactions.

Damage to areas of the colon has been observed in cystic fibrosis patients who have taken potent enzyme supplements. Controlled clinical trials have not shown a link between Creon and colon involvement. However, as a precaution, unusual abdominal symptoms or changes in them should be monitored to rule out the possibility of damage to the colon – especially if the patient is taking high doses (more than 10,000 units of lipase/kg/day).

Report any unusual reactions to your doctor.

Interaction:

They are not yet known.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:

The use of Creon 25,000 during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible only for particularly serious reasons.

Dosage:

The dosage and duration of treatment are always determined by the doctor, depending on individual needs, the type of disease and the composition of the diet.

It is recommended to take a third to half of the whole dose (see below) at the beginning of a meal and the rest during it. It is important to ensure adequate hydration at all times, especially during periods of increased fluid loss. Insufficient hydration can worsen constipation.

Dosage for cystic fibrosis = enzyme dosage by weight can start with 1,000 units of lipase/kg body weight and food for children under 4 years of age and 500 units of lipase/kg body weight and food for children over 4 years of age; the doctor adjusts the dosage according to the severity of the disease and the presence of fat in the stool to maintain a good nutritional status; Most patients should stay below or exceed 10,000 units/kg of body weight per day.

Dosage for other diseases associated with insufficient pancreatic function = The dosage is individual and depends on the degree of deterioration of digestion and fat content in the diet. The usual starting dose of Creon 25,000 is 1 capsule with each main meal or snack. The number of capsules to be taken with a main meal or snack is determined by the doctor according to the individual needs of the patient in order to maintain a good nutritional status. It is usually taken 1–2 capsules of Creon 25,000 at the main meal and 1 capsule at snack.

Method of use:

Neither the capsules nor their contents should be chewed or chewed, they should be taken unchewed during the main meal or snack and should be drunk with plenty of liquid (approximately 100 ml).

If swallowing the capsule causes difficulties, e.g. in children or the elderly, the capsules can be opened and the Mini-Micropellets can be added to soft food that does not require chewing or administered with liquid.

Any mixture of Mini Micropellets with food and liquids should be taken immediately and should not be stored.

If an overdose or accidental ingestion of Creon 25,000 by a child should be consulted, consult a doctor.
