Trauma ointment cooling Mayrhofer is used on intact skin for the local treatment of pain in:

• acute injuries to muscles, joints and tendons such as bruises, strains, sprains
• overexertion
• acute rheumatic inflammatory complaints, sciatica
• Pain in the joints and spine (lumbar spine, cervical spine), intervertebral disc syndrome, lumbago

Contraindications

Trauma ointment cooling Mayrhofer must not be used

• if you are allergic to methyl salicylate, menthol, camphor or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• in infants and young children under 2 years of age (risk of laryngeal spasm).
• in patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with marked hypersensitivity of the airways. Inhaling trauma ointment cooling Mayrhofer can lead to shortness of breath or trigger an asthma attack.
• as a large-scale long-term treatment in patients with a tendency to bleeding, stomach and intestinal ulcers, severe liver or kidney damage.
• if you have severe liver or kidney failure.
• on open or damaged skin and mucous membranes as well as in skin diseases.

interactions

If ointments containing salicylate are used over a long period of time and over large areas, interactions with the following substances are possible:

• Drugs that affect blood clotting, from the dicoumarol series and heparin (increased risk of bleeding).
• Methotrexate, used as a chemotherapy drug and to treat certain forms of arthritis.
• Hypoglycemic (low blood sugar levels too low).
• certain medications for gout.
• certain drainage (diuretics) and rheumatism drugs.
• Taking medication containing cortisone at the same time can increase the damaging effect on the gastric mucosa.
• If oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, non-cortisone painkillers) are used at the same time, their side effects can be increased.

Due to the menthol content, the absorption of other topically applied medicinal products through the skin can be increased.

Use of trauma ointment cooling Mayrhofer together with food, drinks and alcohol
If alcohol is taken at the same time, the damage to the gastric mucosa can be intensified.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Pregnant women and nursing mothers should only be treated for a short time and not over a large area.

There are no adequate data on the use of Trauma Ointment cooling Mayrhofer in women of childbearing age.

application

For application on the skin.

• Apply the ointment several times a day as a thin film to the intact skin and massage in.
• Wash your hands well after rubbing with the ointment.
• Use only on intact skin, do not apply to mucous membranes, open wounds or eyes.
• Large-scale application should be avoided.

side effects

Rare (affects less than 1 in 1,000 people):

• Skin hypersensitivity reactions such as redness, itching or rash
• With a corresponding previous exposure: Triggering of shortness of breath (bronchial asthma), shortness of breath due to narrowing of the airways. Trauma ointment cooling Mayrhofer can cause laryngeal spasms in infants and children up to 2 years of age, resulting in severe breathing disorders.

Not known (cannot be estimated from the available data)

• With long-term and large-scale use, side effects such as nausea or other gastrointestinal complaints cannot be ruled out.
• Existing respiratory diseases (asthma) can worsen with hypersensitivity to salicylates.
• Application site burns
