The test consists of a plastic strip with a reaction field at one end, which quickly changes color depending on the concentration of alcohol when it comes into contact with a solution containing alcohol. It gives a positive reaction with methanol, ethanol and allyl alcohol. The test results are read visually and the approximate relative blood alcohol concentration is determined by color comparison.
