Activir - Cold Blister Cream is used to relieve the pain and itching of cold sores on the face.
1. WHAT ACTIVIR Blister CREAM IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?
The active ingredient of Activir - Fever blister cream is called acyclovir and is a virus inhibitor that causes a targeted inhibition of virus replication in human cells infected by herpes viruses. This causes the viral infection ("fever blister") to subside.
Activir Cold Blister Cream is used to relieve the pain and itching of cold sores on the face. The fever blister cream should be applied thinly to the affected areas of the skin.
2. BEFORE YOU USE ACTIVIR Blister CREAM?
Activir fever blister cream must not be used
- if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to acyclovir, valaciclovir, propylene glycol or any of the other ingredients of Activir fever blister cream.
Take special care when using Activir - Cold Sore Cream - Activir -
Cold Sore Cream should not be applied to the mucous membrane in the mouth and vagina, as this could cause temporary irritation.
- Activir fever blister cream must never be used on the eyes.
- Activir - cold sore cream should not be used to prevent herpes simplex infections as there is insufficient experience with long-term use.
- If your body's immune system is severely weakened, you should ask a doctor for advice before using Activir cold sore cream.
Using other medicines.
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using or have recently taken / used any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
There is currently no evidence of an interaction between Activir - Cold Blister Cream and other active ingredients.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking / using any medicine.
If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or if you become pregnant during treatment, please talk to your doctor.
There are insufficient data on the effects of using Activir cold sore cream during pregnancy.
It is not known whether and in what quantities Activir cold sore cream passes into breast milk after topical application. Breastfeeding should be stopped while using Activir cold sore cream.
Driving and using machines
No special precautionary measures are necessary.
Important information about some of the ingredients in Activir cold sore cream
The cream contains propylene glycol and cetostearyl alcohol, among other things. These ingredients can cause skin irritation.
3. HOW TO USE ACTIVIR Blister CREAM?
Always use Activir fever blister cream exactly as your doctor has told you. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
Activir cold sore cream should be applied to the affected areas of skin 5 times a day at regular intervals (every 4 hours).
The duration of treatment is usually 4 days. If the treatment deteriorates or if the vesicles are not encrusted or healed after 10 days of treatment at the latest, a doctor should be consulted.
Treatment with Activir cold sore cream should be started as soon as possible when the first signs such as itching, redness and a feeling of tightness appear. However, treatment can also be started at a later point in time (if nodules or a cold sore appear).
Please strictly adhere to the recommended dosages.
If you have used more Activir fever blister cream than you should
Accidentally overdosing on Activir fever blister cream is unlikely to cause side effects.
If you forget to use Activir cold sore cream
You should use Activir - Cold Blister Cream as soon as possible, or skip the "forgotten" dose if you are due to use the next dose soon.
If you have any further questions on the use of the medicinal product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?
Like all medicines, Activir Fever Blister Cream can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are seriously affected by any of the listed side effects or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet.
Skin and subcutaneous
tissue disorders Uncommon (less than 1 in 100, but more than 1 in 1,000 people): Temporary burning or stinging on the treated areas after applying Activir cold sore cream. Slight dryness or flaking of the skin, itching.
Rare (less than 1 in 1,000 but more than 1 in 10,000 patients): reddening of the skin, local inflammation of the skin (contact dermatitis).
Immune system disorders
Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000 patients, including isolated cases): Acute hypersensitivity reactions including edema (water retention in the tissue).
5. HOW TO STORE ACTIVIR BLADDER CREAM
Do not store above 25ºC.
Do not store in the refrigerator.
Store drug out of reach of children.
Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton or the pump dispenser and tube. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer need. This measure helps to protect the environment.
