 How do essential oils work?

When inhaled, the molecules of the fragrance send part of the nerve impulses directly to the amygdala, the emotional center of the brain. Then there is the release of neurotransmitters - e.g. dopamine, serotin or endorphin, which affect how we feel, fall asleep and how much energy we have. Unlike coffee or energy drinks, essential oils do not enter the body through the digestive system and affect the brain in a healthier way.
