Aspro Grippal is a medicine for

  • Symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain, such as headache, toothache and menstrual pain.
  • Relieving pain and lowering fever associated with colds and flu-like infections.

If you do not feel better or worse after 3-4 days for pain or after 3 days for fever, contact your doctor.

Contraindications

Aspro Grippal must not be taken

  • if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), ascorbic acid (vitamin C) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • if you have had an allergic reaction in the past to certain pain-relieving medicines (acetylsalicylic acid or substances with a similar mechanism of action (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs NSAIDs)) with asthma attacks or in any other way.
  • in the last 3 months of pregnancy.
  • if you have previously had gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation related to previous treatment with NSAIDs.
  • in case of existing or recurring gastrointestinal events such as ulcers, bleeding, perforation and duodenal ulcers.
  • with an increased congenital or acquired bleeding tendency, a reduction in
  • Platelet count, in hemophilia.
  • in case of heavy bleeding or risk of bleeding, e.g. before or immediately after an operation.
  • with severe cardiac insufficiency.
  • with severe hepatic impairment
  • in severe renal dysfunction.
  • if you take 15 mg or more methotrexate per week (medicine used to treat cancer or certain rheumatic diseases) at the same time. See also section “Other medicines and Aspro Grippal”.
  • if you are also taking anticoagulants (medicines for "blood thinning"), or if high doses of salicylates are used. See also section “Other medicines and Aspro Grippal”.
  • in hyperoxaluria (disease with an increased tendency to form kidney stones).
  • of children or adolescents with chickenpox or the flu, because of the risk of developing Reye's syndrome (a life-threatening disease of the brain and liver). See also the Warnings and Precautions section.
  • of children under one year.
  • with alcoholism.
  • by people weighing less than 30 kg. For these, acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) is available in low-dose dosage forms.

interactions

Take special care with Aspro Grippal if you have:

  • Stomach ulcers, bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis) in the medical history.
  • Heart, liver or kidney dysfunction. See also section “Do not take Aspro Grippal”.
  • Hypersensitivity to painkillers, other anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-rheumatic drugs (anti-rheumatic drugs) or other allergy-causing substances.
  • Allergies to other substances (also with skin reactions, itching, nettle rash), existing asthma, hay fever, swelling of the nasal mucosa (nasal polyps), chronic respiratory diseases.
  • In these cases, ASA can promote bronchial spasms and trigger asthma attacks or other hypersensitivity reactions.
  • Asthma: In some patients, the onset of asthma attacks may be due to an allergy to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or ASA. In this case, this medicine must not be used. See also section “Do not take Aspro Grippal”.
  • A history of high blood pressure and/or heart failure. Fluid retention and swelling have been reported with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
  • Malnutrition and a lack of water in the body (dehydration).
  • Increased or prolonged menstrual bleeding.
  • Patients with impaired kidney function or reduced heart and vascular blood flow (e.g. vascular diseases of the kidneys, myocardial insufficiency, loss of volume, major operations, blood poisoning or severe bleeding events).
  • ASA can further increase the risk of renal dysfunction and acute renal failure.

The following medicines should not be taken with Aspro Grippal:

  • Anticoagulants (medicines used to “thin blood”) in combination with Aspro Grippal in high doses.
  • Methotrexate in doses of 15 mg per week or more (medicine used to treat cancer or certain rheumatic diseases).

The following medicines may only be combined with Aspro Grippal under medical supervision:

  • Blood clotting drugs (oral blood thinners anticoagulants)
  • Other painkillers and anti-inflammatory medicines containing other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or ASA - there may be an increase in side effects (such as ulcers and bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract) or an overdose.
  • Other anticoagulants, blood clot-dissolving medicines and other medicines that prevent platelets from sticking and clumping together (such as ticlopidine, parenteral heparins, streptokinases, thrombolytics) as the risk of bleeding is increased
  • Certain medicines against gout (uricosurics such as benzbromarone, probenecid), as the effectiveness of the gout medicines may be weakened.

application

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Use the lowest dosage possible. Undesirable effects can be reduced by using the lowest, sufficiently effective dose for the shortest time necessary to control symptoms.

The recommended dose is:

Adolescents (heavier than 50 kg) and adults:

  • Single dose: 1 effervescent tablet. For severe pain, 2 effervescent tablets (0.5 g - 1.0 g ASA and 0.25 - 0.5 g vitamin C). The minimum interval between single doses should be 4 hours. The maximum daily dose of 3 g ASA (corresponds to 6 effervescent tablets) must not be exceeded.

Elderly people (over 65 years):

  • Single dose: 1 effervescent tablet. For severe pain, 2 effervescent tablets (0.5 g - 1.0 g ASA and 0.25 - 0.5 g vitamin C). The minimum interval between single doses should be 4 hours. The maximum daily dose of 2 g ASA (corresponds to 4 effervescent tablets) must not be exceeded.

In the elderly and underweight people in particular, it is recommended to use the lowest effective dose.

Children under 12 years:

  • Aspro Grippal is not suitable for children's dosages.
    Medicines containing ASA (such as Aspro Grippal) can only be given to children under the age of 12 with a doctor's prescription. See also section “Warnings and precautions”, “Treatment of fever in children and adolescents”).

Adolescents (12 years and older) with a body weight between 30 and 50 kg:

  • Single dose: ½ - 1 effervescent tablet (0.25 g - 0.5 g ASA and 0.125 - 0.25 g vitamin C). The intake amounts are to be adjusted to the age and/or weight. The minimum interval between single doses should be 6 hours. The maximum daily dose of 1.5 g ASA (equivalent to 3 effervescent tablets) must not be exceeded.

side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Stop taking Aspro Grippal and seek medical advice straight away or go to the nearest hospital if you notice: abdominal pain, black stools, vomiting blood or coffee grounds-like vomiting, these are signs of bleeding in the stomach or intestines.

Side effects can occur with the following frequency:

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):

  • Gastrointestinal complaints such as heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain

Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

  • Hypersensitivity reactions such as: hives, reddening of the skin, itching

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):

  • Gastrointestinal inflammation, gastrointestinal ulcers, which very rarely can lead to perforation; Obvious (vomiting blood, blackening of the stool) or unnoticed gastrointestinal bleeding, which very rarely can lead to anemia due to iron deficiency. These side effects are more common the higher the dose; Gastrointestinal ulcers, possibly with bleeding and perforation, especially in elderly patients.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions with shortness of breath, drop in blood pressure, runny nose, stuffy nose, swelling of the skin and mucous membranes (especially in asthma patients) up to life-threatening shock
  • Hypersensitivity reactions in the form of severe skin reactions with blistering and peeling or bleeding of the skin, inflammatory diseases of the blood vessels

Rare to very rare:

  • Serious bleeding such as bleeding in the brain, especially in patients with uncontrolled high blood pressure and/or during simultaneous treatment with anticoagulants, which can be life-threatening in individual cases.

Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people)

  • Severe life-threatening brain and liver dysfunction (“Reye's syndrome”). See also “Warnings and Precautions”.)
  • Blood count changes due to bone marrow damage
  • Renal impairment, sudden renal failure
  • drop in blood sugar
  • Gout attack in prone patients
  • increased liver values; liver dysfunction, increase in certain blood values ​​(transaminase increase); Sudden severe liver dysfunction has been observed particularly in patients with a history of liver damage and in rheumatism patients, such as patients with juvenile arthritis, rheumatic fever or the autoimmune disease lupus erythematosus. In these patients, the doctor will check the liver function regularly. See also “Warnings and Precautions”.

Very rare or frequency not known:

  • Red blood cell breakdown (particularly in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency), diarrhea (at high doses), kidney stones and hypersensitivity reactions associated with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) - ingestion.

Frequency not known (cannot be estimated from the available data):

  • Bleeding with prolonged bleeding time such as bleeding from the nose, bleeding from the gums, bleeding from the skin, bruising, bleeding from the muscles or bleeding from the urinary and genital organs. This effect may last for 4 to 8 days after you stop taking Aspro Grippal. This can result in a risk of bleeding during operations or anemia due to blood loss. Disintegration of the red blood cells, anemia caused by the disintegration of the red blood cells.
  • Headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, restlessness, disorientation, impaired hearing, ringing in the ears, blurred vision and mental confusion. These side effects can already be signs of an overdose!
  • Indigestion, gastrointestinal pain, upper abdominal pain
  • Asthma caused by painkillers, runny nose, stuffy nose
  • Swelling due to fluid retention, high blood pressure and heart failure have been reported in association with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug therapy.

What Aspro Grippal contains

  • The active ingredients are: 500 mg acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and 250 mg ascorbic acid (vitamin C) per effervescent tablet
  • The other ingredients are: citric acid anhydrate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate anhydrate, sodium dihydrogen citrate, sodium citrate, povidone (K 30), mannitol, docusate sodium, simethicone, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharin, lemon flavor, sorbitol (E420).
