COLDANGIN is a medicine for the local treatment of inflammatory diseases of the mouth and throat. 

field of use

COLDANGIN is used to treat inflammatory and acute diseases of the mouth and throat (e.g. inflammation of the oral mucosa, inflammation of the gums, blisters of the oral mucosa, pharyngitis and laryngitis, hoarseness and sore throat).

Contraindications

COLDANGIN must not be used

• if you are allergic to amylmetacresol, dichlorobenzyl alcohol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6;
• in children under 6 years of age;
• in patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases that are associated with pronounced hypersensitivity of the airways. 

Interactions

When taking two or more medicines, a mutual influence can occur in the sense of an increase or weakening of the effect and side effects.
COLDANGIN lozenges should not be used at the same time as oral (taken by mouth) antibiotics (agents that kill bacteria) as their effectiveness may be reduced.

Using COLDANGIN with food and drinks
Taking food and drinks at the same time can reduce the effect of COLDANGIN. The application should therefore be separated from the intake of food or drinks.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

There are no sufficient data for the use of COLDANGIN lozenges in pregnant women. Due to a lack of experience, COLDANGIN lozenges should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after an appropriate benefit/risk assessment by the treating doctor.

COLDANGIN contains aspartame
COLDANGIN contains aspartame as a source of phenylalanine and may be harmful if you have phenylketonuria (metabolic disorder in which phenylalanine cannot be broken down).

Application

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, this is the usual dose

Adults and children from 6 years of age
In acute cases, 1 lozenge every 2 - 3 hours, usually up to 8 pieces per day.

COLDANGIN lozenges should not be used for longer than 3 - 4 days without medical advice.

Method of use
Allow the lozenge to slowly melt in your mouth. The drug should be used separately from food. 

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
Very rarely (less than 1 patient in 10,000) allergic reactions, gastrointestinal complaints and irritation of the mucous membranes can occur.

composition

The active ingredients are: 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alkhol and 6-n-amyl-m-cresol 1 lozenge contains: 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alkhol 1.5 mg 6-n-amyl-m-cresol 0.8 mg
The other ingredients are: Aspartame (E 951) 1.5 mg, isomalt, menthol, natural flavors, citric acid.
