dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges contain a germicidal agent (dequalinium chloride) and dexpanthenol (=provitamin B5), which promotes wound healing and thereby supports the effect of dequalinium chloride.

dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges are used to support the treatment of inflammation in the mouth and throat (sore throat, hoarseness, inflammation of the oral mucosa).

Contraindications
dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges should not be taken
- if you are allergic to dequalinium chloride, dexpanthenol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- if you suffer from bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with marked hypersensitivity of the airways. Inhaling dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges can cause shortness of breath or trigger an asthma attack.
interactions
The action of dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges is inhibited by blood and pus. The presence of common soaps and substances containing certain fats (eg phospholipids) weaken the effect of dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges.
Taking dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges with food and drink
You should not eat or drink anything immediately before or after sucking dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
In the absence of sufficient data, use during pregnancy and breast-feeding is not recommended
dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges contain maltitol and sorbitol as a solution
Sugar intolerance: dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges contain maltitol and sorbitol (sugar substitutes) each as a solution. Please only take dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from sugar intolerance.
1 lozenge corresponds to approximately 0.05 BE.
application

dosage
The recommended dose is:
Children from 4 to 12 years, adolescents from 12 years and adults:
Dissolve 1 dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenge in the mouth several times a day. If necessary, 1 lozenge can be sucked every 2 hours (up to 5 lozenges daily).
Because of the risk of accidentally swallowing the whole lozenge and because of the menthol content, dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges should not be used in children under 4 years of age.

How and when should you take dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges
- For best results, do not eat or drink anything immediately before or after sucking dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges.
- The intake should start at the first sign of symptoms and continue for another 2-3 days after improvement.
- If the symptoms do not abate or disappear after about 5 days, medical advice should be sought.
If the symptoms persist or if the expected success of the treatment does not occur, you should seek advice from your doctor or dentist
side effects
Like all medicines, dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.
Hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. itching, skin rash) and taste irritations cannot be ruled out. Frequency not known (cannot be estimated from the available data).
composition
The active substances are: dequalinium chloride and dexpanthenol.
1 dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenge contains 0.45 mg dequalinium chloride and 50 mg dexpanthenol.
The other ingredients are:
gum arabic (E 414), maltitol solution (E 965), 70% sorbitol solution (E 420), sodium chloride, menthol, anise oil, acesulfame potassium (E 950), liquid paraffin, bleached wax (E 901), purified Water, dye erythrosine (E127).
