    doc Ibuprofen pain gel is a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory medicine that can be rubbed into the skin.
    Areas of application
    For external symptomatic or supportive therapy for:

    • Swelling and inflammation of the soft tissues near the joints (e.g. bursa, tendons, tendon sheaths, ligaments and joint capsules)
    • blunt injuries such as bruises, sprains, strains

    Contraindications

    doc Ibuprofen pain gel must not be used

    • if you are allergic to ibuprofen, dimethyl isosorbide, benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, citral, citronellol, coumarin, eugenol, farnesol, geraniol, D-limonene, linalool, other painkillers and rheumatism medications (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or any of the other ingredients mentioned in section 6 medicinal products
    • on open injuries, inflammations or infections of the skin as well as on eczema or mucous membranes
    • under airtight dressings
    • in the last trimester of pregnancy

    Interactions

    Using doc Ibuprofen pain gel together with other medicines
    Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using other medicines, have recently used other medicines or plan to use other medicines.

    When doc Ibuprofen pain gel is used as intended, no interactions have been reported.

    Pregnancy and breast-feeding
    If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

    Pregnancy
    If pregnancy is discovered while using doc Ibuprofen pain gel, the doctor should be notified. You may only use doc Ibuprofen pain gel in the first and second trimester of pregnancy after consulting your doctor. Doc Ibuprofen pain gel must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy because of the increased risk of complications for mother and child.

    Breastfeeding
    The active ingredient ibuprofen and its breakdown products pass into breast milk in only small amounts. Since there are no known adverse consequences for the infant, it is generally not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding if used for a short period of time. However, a daily dose of 15 g of gel should not be exceeded and early discontinuation of breastfeeding should be considered in the event of prolonged use. To avoid absorption by the baby, breastfeeding mothers should not use the medicine in the breast area.

    Application

    Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

    The recommended dose is:
    doc Ibuprofen pain gel is used 3 times daily. Depending on the size of the painful area to be treated, a 4 - 10 cm long gel strand, corresponding to 2 - 5 g of gel (100 - 250 mg ibuprofen), is required.

    The maximum total daily dose is 15 g of gel, equivalent to 750 mg of ibuprofen.

    Use in children and adolescents
    doc Ibuprofen pain gel should not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 14, as there are no sufficient studies for this age group.

    Type of application
    For external use only! Do not take!
    doc Ibuprofen pain gel is applied to the skin and rubbed lightly into the skin.

    Increased penetration of the active ingredient through the skin can be achieved by using iontophoresis (a special form of electrotherapy). Doc Ibuprofen pain gel must be applied under the cathode (negative pole). The current strength should be 0.1 - 0.5 mA per 5 cm² of electrode surface, the application time should be approx. 10 minutes.

    Duration of application
    The treating doctor decides on the duration of application. As a rule, one application over 2 – 3 weeks is sufficient. The therapeutic benefit of use beyond this period has not been proven.

    Side effects

    Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.

    Possible side effects
    Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):

    • Local skin reactions such as: B. Skin redness, itching, burning, rash also with pustule or wheal formation

    Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

    • Hypersensitivity reactions or local allergic reactions (contact dermatitis)

    Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):

    • Airway narrowing (bronchospasm)

    Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from available data):

    • The skin becomes sensitive to light

    If doc Ibuprofen pain gel is applied to a large area of ​​the skin and used over a longer period of time, the occurrence of side effects that affect a specific organ system or the entire organism, as can occur under certain circumstances after using oral medicines containing ibuprofen, is not possible to exclude.

    Benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, citral, citronellol, coumarin, eugenol, farnesol, geraniol, D-limonene and linalool can cause allergic reactions.
