Esberitox® tablets are a herbal medicinal product for the supportive treatment of colds and for the prevention of frequently recurring colds.
field of use
This medicine is used in adults, adolescents and children over 4 years of age. If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 10 days, contact your doctor.
Contraindications
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to husk rhizome, coneflower root, purple coneflower root, arborvitae tips and leaves or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6) or to any other plant species of the daisy family.

if one of the diseases listed below is present or a corresponding treatment is being carried out:
- progressive systemic diseases (such as tuberculosis, sarcoidosis);
- Diseases in which the immune system turns against its own body (autoimmune diseases such as collagenosis, multiple sclerosis);
- Acquired immune deficiencies (such as AIDS diseases, HIV infections);
- Treatments that suppress the immune system (such as after transplants or chemotherapy for cancer);
- White blood cell disorders (such as leukaemia, agranulocytosis).

Taking Esberitox® tablets with food, drink and alcohol
No special precautions are necessary.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
As insufficient data are available, use during pregnancy and lactation cannot be recommended.
Esberitox® tablets contain lactose and sucrose.
Please therefore only take this medicine after consulting your doctor or pharmacist if you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars.
application
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is
adults and adolescents over 12 years: 3 tablets 3 times a day
Use in children and adolescents
Children from 7-11 years: 2 tablets 3 times a day
Children from 4-6 years: 1 tablet 3 times a day
Children under 4 years of age:
Use in children under 4 years of age is not recommended due to insufficient data.
Method of administration Oral
use
Morning, noon and evening with some liquid or let it dissolve in the mouth. Treatment should be started at the first sign of a cold.
Duration of use
If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 10 days, contact your doctor. Esberitox® tablets should not be taken for more than 8 weeks without a break.
side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Hypersensitivity reactions, eg skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, shortness of breath, drop in blood pressure can occur.
In addition, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea and dizziness were observed. The frequency with which side effects occur is not known.

1 tablet contains
3.2 mg dry extract (drug:extract ratio (DEV) 4-9:1) from a mixture of husk rootstock (Baptisiae rhizoma), purple coneflower root (Echinaceae purpureae radix), pale purple coneflower root (Echinaceae pallidae radix) and thuja tops and -leaves (Thujae occidentalis herba) in the ratio 4.92:1.85:1.85:1.
Extraction agent: ethanol 30% (V/V)
The other ingredients are:
anhydrous lactose, magnesium stearate, macrogol, sucrose
