Before first use, boil the silicone pacifier in boiling water for 5 minutes. The bottle works best with a valve, but it's great to have an option if you find the valve is no longer needed. You don't need to try a new bottle, just remove the valve. Without the valve, the air escapes through the bottom of the pacifier.
