Zinc is a component of many enzymes and insulin and is essential for the metabolism of skin, hair, nails, nerves, immune system, growth and reproduction (e.g. if you want to have children). In combination with selenium, zinc is a natural antioxidant (cell protection).
What happens in the event of a shortage? Hair loss, poor wound healing, brittle nails, dry skin, eczema, susceptibility to infection, immunodeficiency, disorders of blood formation, sugar utilization (diabetes), organ function (heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, thyroid gland, lungs, intestines, prostate, etc.), reproduction (infertility, potency), disturbance of blood pressure, hormone balance, cholesterol levels.
