interactions
Please talk to your pharmacist before taking easybronchial stop forte, especially if any of the following warnings apply to you.
- Cough suppressants should not be used for cough with sputum, as this is an important defense mechanism of the airways.
- Caution is advised in the elderly and people with liver and/or kidney dysfunction.
- Caution is advised in patients with asthma, bronchitis or emphysema (a type of lung disease causing shortness of breath and reduced elasticity of the lungs).
- This medicine can lead to dependency. Therefore, treatment should be short-lived.
- Cases of abuse of dextromethorphan have been reported. Caution is particularly advised in adolescents and young adults and in patients with a history of drug abuse or use of psychoactive substances.
- Treatment with easybronchial stop forte is therefore only advisable for short periods and under the strictest medical supervision for patients who tend to abuse or depend on medicines.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking easybronchial stop forte:
- If you are taking medicines such as certain antidepressants or antipsychotics, easybronchial stop forte may interact with these medicines and you may experience mental status changes (e.g. agitation, hallucinations, coma) and other effects such as body temperature above 38°C, increase heart rate, unstable blood pressure and hyperreflexia, muscle stiffness, lack of coordination and/or gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g. nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea).
If the symptoms persist or the treatment does not show the expected success, a medical consultation is required as soon as possible, at the latest after 3 days.
Other medicines and easybronchial stop forte Tell
your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use other medicines.
- Under no circumstances should you take easybronchial stop forte together with certain medications for depression (monoamine oxidase inhibitors or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors);
-
Concomitant use with drugs that inhibit a specific enzyme system in the liver and thus the breakdown of dextromethorphan can lead to an increase in the concentration and increased risk of side effects of dextromethorphan, such as
- fluoxetine and paroxetine (these are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors used for depression);
- sertraline, bupropion (medicines for depression);
- amiodarone, quinidine, flecainide and propafenone (medicines for irregular heartbeat);
- haloperidol, perphenazine and thioridazine (medicines for psychosis);
- methadone (strong pain reliever);
- cinacalcet (medicine used to treat overactive parathyroid glands);
- cimetidine (medicine against too much stomach acid);
- terbinafine (medicine used to treat fungal infections).
-
Concomitant use of easybronchial stop forte and sedatives such as benzodiazepines or related drugs increases the risk of drowsiness, difficulty breathing (respiratory depression), coma and can be life-threatening. For this reason, concomitant use should only be considered when there are no other treatment options.
- However, if your doctor prescribes easybronchial stop forte together with sedative medicines, the dose and duration of the concomitant treatment should be limited by your doctor.
- Please tell your doctor about all sedative medicines you are taking and follow your doctor's dose recommendation closely. It might be helpful to inform friends or relatives to watch out for the above signs and symptoms. Contact your doctor if you experience such symptoms.
Taking easybronchial stop forte with food, drink and alcohol
- Concomitant use with alcohol should be avoided. This combination can
- increase the calming effect.
- Grapefruit juice and bitter orange juice can increase the effects of dextromethorphan.
- pregnancy and breast feeding period

to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for
advice before taking this medicine.

In the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy, the drug may only be taken after a strict medical benefit-risk assessment.
