easynasan junior is a medicine for treating colds.
By spraying the solution into both nostrils, the inflamed nasal mucosa swells and excessive secretion is reduced.
easynasan junior is applied
- for the treatment of acute colds (rhinitis acuta), allergic colds (allergic rhinitis) and runny colds that occur in attacks (rhinitis vasomotorica);
- to facilitate the drainage of secretions in inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and in tube catarrh in connection with a cold;
- for diagnostic mucosal swelling.
easynasan junior 0.5 mg/ml nasal spray is used in children aged 2-11 years. Use in children aged 2-6 years is only possible with a doctor's prescription.
If the patient does not feel better or worse after 3 days, contact your doctor.
Contraindications
easynasan junior must not be used
- if the patient is allergic to xylometazoline or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6 or other active substances of the same substance class (imidazolines),
- in small children (under 2 years),
- in case of dry inflammation of the nasal mucosa with formation of crusts and crusts (rhinitis sicca),
- after surgical removal of the pineal gland through the nose (transsphenoidal hypophysectomy) or other surgical procedures that expose the meninges,
- if there is an increase in intraocular pressure (“glaucoma”, glaucoma),
- if you are also taking certain medicines for depression (so-called MAO inhibitors, even if they have been taken within the last 2 weeks).

Use of easynasan junior together with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines.
Interactions with the following medicines are possible - especially in the case of an overdose:
- with certain medicines for depression (tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants),
- with so-called MAO inhibitors, even if they have been taken within the last 2 weeks (see section “easynasan must not be used”),
- with medicines for high blood pressure (e.g. methyldopa),
- with medicines taken at the same time that stimulate the nervous system, such as doxapram (respiratory stimulant), ergotamine (medicine for migraine), oxytocin (medicine to induce labour). The effect of these can be increased
- with drugs that have a calming effect on the nervous system. Their effect can be weakened.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
There are insufficient studies on the effects of xylometazoline on the fetus and during lactation. easynasan junior should therefore not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
application
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Dosage:
The recommended dose is:
Children aged 2-11 years:
One spray in each nostril once daily.
If necessary, the medicine can be applied every 8 hours up to a maximum of 3 times a day. The recommended dosage must not be exceeded. The effects of xylometazoline begin 5-10 minutes after application and last up to 10 hours.
If the patient does not feel better after 3 days, or if the condition worsens, a doctor must be consulted. This medicine should be used for as short a time as possible and should not be used for more than 7 days.
Infants and children under 6 years of age:
The safety and effectiveness of easynasan junior 0.5 mg/ml in infants under 2 years of age have not been established. Use in children aged 2-6 years is only possible with a doctor's prescription.
Adults and adolescents (from 12 years of age):
A medicinal product with a higher active substance concentration is available for adults and adolescents.

side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Stop using easynasan junior and seek medical help immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms, which may be signs of an allergic reaction:
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
- Severe itching of the skin, with a red rash or bumps

composition
The active substance is xylometazoline hydrochloride.
1 ml solution contains 0.5 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride.
1 spray (= 70 microlitres) contains 35 micrograms of xylometazoline hydrochloride.
The other ingredients are:
sodium hyaluronate, purified sea water, potassium dihydrogen phosphate (E340), purified water.
Note: easynasan junior 0.5 mg/ml nasal spray contains no preservatives.
