Characteristics:

Lutein Premium contains a balanced combination of active substances for eye nutrition such as lutein, zeaxanthin, zinc, vitamin E and fish oil containing 3-omega DHA / EPA fatty acids.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are natural carotenoids that are synthesized by plants to color them and to absorb light. In nature, they occur either in the free form or in the form of a compound (ester). No enzymes are needed to absorb the free form in the human body, so this form is more readily absorbable. Of the more than 600 carotenoids found in nature, lutein and zeaxanthin are the only carotenoids found in high concentrations in the eye (including the macula - the yellow spot which is the center of the sharpest vision and, to a lesser extent, the retina and lens). Lutein and zeaxanthin are the basic building blocks of the macular pigment. With increasing age their concentration gradually decreases. The organism is not able to synthesize them, so it is important to have a sufficient dietary intake.

Lutein and zeaxanthin contained in Lutein Premium are natural carotenoids, obtained from the flowers of Tagetes erecta. Lutein FloraGLO® and Zeaxanthin OPTISHARP® Natural are patented forms of lutein and zeaxanthin in free form in micronized crystals, making them easier to absorb. Lutein FloraGLO® and Zeaxanthin OPTISHARP® Natural were selected by the US National Institute of Eyesight and used in the prestigious clinical trial AREDS2.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has confirmed that 3-omega fatty acid DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and zinc contribute to maintaining good vision. The beneficial effect is achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA.

Vitamin E and zinc contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
