MD-SMALL JOINTS injections may only be administered by qualified personnel in private and public medical facilities for the following purposes:

MD
-SMALL JOINTS can be used independently or in combination with other medical devices from the same line to tailor treatment to the clinical situation.

If maintenance therapy is necessary for acute pain, MD-SMALL JOINTS can be administered in combination with MD-NEURAL, MD-POLY, and MD-MUSCLE (simultaneously with one or more of them). Furthermore, if support for the connective tissue matrix is required or to slow down the physiological aging process, MD-SMALL JOINTS can be administered in combination with MD-MATRIX and MD-TISSUE.

It can also be used as mechanical support in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Degenerative disease of the interphalangeal joints of the hand
  • Degenerative changes in the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb
  • Pain associated with degenerative disease in the hammer toe
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome (in combination with MD-NEURAL)
  • De Quervain's syndrome (in combination with MD-NEURAL)
  • Metatarsal pain
  • Metatarsalgia associated with Morton's neuroma (in combination with MD-NEURAL)
  • Rheumatoid arthritis of the hands/feet (in combination with MD-POLY)
  • Hand/foot tendon pain caused by prolonged immobilization

The administration schedule may vary, depending on individual needs.

For the medial and lateral approach, the foot is first positioned at a 45° angle in the plantar flexion.

Contraindications:
No cases of hypersensitivity to MD-SMALL JOINTS have been observed. However, patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients should undergo a sensitivity test prior to use by administering a 0.1 ml injection into the forearm or upper arm and then observing it for 1 hour.

Warnings and Precautions:

Hand/foot and small joint pain require a differential diagnosis to detect possible primary neurogenic pain, post-traumatic pain, or secondary pain caused by current or previous bone fractures.
Slight redness at the injection site may result from the mechanical effects of the needle insertion or from a skin reaction.
Administration of the preparation may cause symptoms such as burning/pain at the injection site, which usually subside spontaneously within 5-10 minutes after the procedure.
Cleansing and disinfection of the skin is necessary before and after administration. Saprophytic bacteria may cause an abscess to form at the injection site.
