Hydrosorb Gel 15g in a tube is a single-use, sterile medical device. It is a clear, viscous, sterile gel that maintains a moist wound environment and thus aids wound healing. Depending on the condition of the wound, Hydrosorb Gel rehydrates dry necrotic tissue to support debridement (removal of dead tissue) in dry wounds or to absorb necrotic material and exudate (fluid) from wounds where a small amount of exudate is present.
Hydrosorb Gel is indicated for the treatment of dry, non-exuding wounds and also slightly exuding deeper wounds, such as: pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome, first and second degree burns, incontinence dermatitis.
Hydrosorb Gel can be flushed out by irrigating the wound with sterile saline, resulting in minimal or no disruption to the wound, allowing for improved wound healing and painless reapplication of Hydrosorb Gel.
Secondary fixation of the gel using transparent films (e.g. sterile Hydrofilm dressing) is recommended.
Benefits of Hydrosorb gel:
- maintains a moist environment on the wound surface
- easy to apply and after application the gel remains in place
- colorless, viscous gel with neutral pH
- supports the removal of necrotic tissue from wounds with mild secretions
- skin-friendly
- softens and hydrates necrotic tissues and does not help rehydrate dry granulating wounds
Technical parameters:
- supplied in an application tube
- especially suitable for deep, dry and necrotic wounds , which will fill
- provides a moist environment for tissue regeneration and wound healing
- does not contain preservatives or propylene glycol
The package contains 10 tubes with 15 g of gel.
Dosage and method of use
The gel is applied directly to the wound by applying gentle pressure to the application tube, keeping the opening of the application tube at a certain distance from the wound.
To prevent the gel from absorbing into the secondary dressing too quickly, it is recommended to apply a mesh dressing (Atrauman, Grassolind neutral) or Hydrofilm dressing over the gel layer. Absorbent materials (Sterilux ES, Medicomp. Zetuvit Plus Silicone Border) can then be used as an additional layer. For secondary fixation of the dressing, it is recommended to use fixation bandages (Peha-fix, Peha-haft).
Contraindication
Hydrosorb Gel is contraindicated in ulcers caused by infections such as tuberculosis, syphilis, deep fungal infections, third-degree burns, heavily exuding wounds, in patients with known sensitivity to Hydrosorb Gel or any of its components, in infants under 12 weeks of age, in areas where eye contact is possible.
In case of infection with inflammatory symptoms (fever, edema, redness, pain), contact a doctor.
