What is Hylo Dual?
Hylo Dual is a sterile, phosphate- and preservative-free solution for ophthalmic use.

Composition:
1 ml of Hylo Dual contains 0.5 mg sodium hyaluronate, 20 mg ectoine, boric acid, borax, and water for injection.

What is Hylo Dual used for?
Hylo Dual moisturizes the cornea and conjunctiva and protects against excessive tear evaporation. This stabilization of the tear film relieves eye irritation associated with inflammatory symptoms or caused by allergies. The burning and itchy feeling of the eyes disappears.

When should Hylo Dual be used?
Hylo Dual is intended for the treatment of dry eyes.
Burning, itchy, and watery eyes, a gritty feeling in the eyes, or dry eyes are symptoms of an irritated eye. These are often signs that the eye is not sufficiently moisturized. However, another cause can be hypersensitivity to certain substances (e.g., pollen, pet dander, or house dust), so-called allergies. Since allergies present with similar symptoms, distinguishing between dry eyes and allergy-related eye irritation is difficult.

In these cases, Hylo Dual offers particular advantages thanks to its dual action formula of sodium hyaluronate and ectoine:

• Sodium hyaluronate is a natural substance found in the eye, as well as in other parts of the body. It has the unique physical property of forming a uniform, stable, and particularly long-lasting film of moisture on the surface of the eye, without being quickly washed away.
• Ectoin is a natural substance derived from microorganisms living in extreme environments (e.g., salt lakes). To protect themselves from the harsh environmental conditions, these microorganisms produce ectoin, whose special properties are utilized in Hylo Dual. Ectoin increases water retention on the cells of the eye's surface, thus forming a physiological barrier on the conjunctiva against allergens. Simultaneously, ectoin stabilizes the fat-soluble component of the tear film, protecting against excessive tear evaporation.
• The combination of sodium hyaluronate and ectoine provides the eye with an intensive, long-lasting film of moisture and protects it from tear evaporation. This alleviates environmental irritants that lead to inflammatory symptoms, as well as the typical itching and burning symptoms of allergic reactions.

How do you use Hylo Dual?
Only use Hylo Dual if the carton seal was intact before first use. Please contact the manufacturer if you have any questions about the correct use of this medical device. One 10 ml bottle of solution contains approximately 300 drops. Due to manufacturing processes, a small amount of liquid always remains in the bottle. There is no limit to the duration of use of Hylo Dual, and it can be used by adults and children aged 6 years and older. The contents of one bottle of Hylo Dual should always be used to treat the same person.

What other instructions should be observed?

• If you do not feel better, or if you feel worse after several days of use, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. If you are also using other eye drops, wait at least 30 minutes between applications. Hylo Dual should always be applied last. Eye ointments should always be applied to the conjunctival sac after Hylo Dual.
• Due to its preservative-free formula, Hylo Dual is particularly well tolerated even with prolonged use. In very rare individual cases, adverse reactions such as hypersensitivity reactions, burning, tearing, pain, a foreign body sensation, or other temporary local irritations have been reported, which subsided after discontinuation of Hylo Dual.
• Due to the viscosity of the preparation, temporary blurred vision is possible immediately after application of Hylo Dual. In very rare cases, this can lead to temporary headaches in sensitive patients.
• Hylo Dual can be used while wearing contact lenses. We recommend waiting approximately 30 minutes after inserting contact lenses before using the eye drops to avoid potential adverse reactions that may occur due to interactions between contact lens care products and Hylo Dual.
• Based on current knowledge, Hylo Dual can be used in children over 6 years of age, as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• If a serious incident occurs during or as a result of the use of this medical device, please report it to the manufacturer.

How often and for how long should you use Hylo Dual?
Generally, adults and children aged 6 years and over should instill 1 drop of Hylo Dual into the conjunctival sac of each eye 3 times a day. If you use Hylo Dual more frequently (e.g., more than 10 times a day) or experience more severe symptoms, you should consult an ophthalmologist regularly. Hylo Dual is suitable for long-term use. However, as with all illnesses, you should consult an ophthalmologist if symptoms persist for an extended period (e.g., longer than two weeks).

When should you not use Hylo Dual?
Hylo Dual should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients or by children under 6 years of age.

What are the storage instructions for Hylo Dual?

• Do not store above 25°C.
• Once opened, Hylo Dual can be used for 6 months.
• Do not use after the expiry date.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Dispose of this medical device with your household waste in accordance with your national legislation. This action will help protect the environment.
