What is Hylo Gel?
Hylo Gel is a sterile, phosphate- and preservative-free solution for use in the eye.

Composition:
1 ml of Hylo Gel contains 2 mg sodium hyaluronate, anhydrous citric acid, sodium citrate, sorbitol, and water for injection.

What is Hylo Gel used for?
For intensive, therapeutic lubrication of the ocular surface in cases of severe and chronic dry eyes, as well as after eye surgery.

When should Hylo Gel be used?
Hylo Gel contains the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the eye and other parts of the body. It has the unique physical property of forming a uniform, stable, and exceptionally long-lasting film of moisture on the surface of the eye without being quickly washed away. This so-called bioadhesive property nourishes the cornea and conjunctiva, and together with natural tears, provides ideal lubrication for blinking. Hylo Gel contains a particularly high concentration of hyaluronic acid and is therefore highly viscous. This ensures that the eye is intensively and sustainably supplied with a stable film of moisture. Persistent or severe discomfort is alleviated, and the eye is permanently protected from irritation. Eye surgery or injuries can reduce the body's natural tear production. The regeneration of the eye's superficial tissues requires constant and adequate lubrication. Using Hylo Gel provides long-lasting moisture to the cornea and conjunctiva, allowing the physiological healing processes to proceed optimally. Because it is preservative-free, Hylo Gel is generally very well tolerated. Hylo Gel is also phosphate-free, thus avoiding potential complications from the formation of deposits in the cornea.

How do you apply Hylo Gel?
Only use Hylo Gel if the carton seal was intact before first use. Remove the cap before each use. To do this, hold the cap just above the bottle and, with your other hand, twist the bottle away from the cap. Before using Hylo Gel for the first time, hold the bottle vertically with the dropper tip pointing downwards and press the bottom of the bottle repeatedly until the first drop comes out of the tip. The bottle is then ready for subsequent uses. Hold the bottle with the dropper tip pointing downwards by placing your thumb on the shoulder of the bottle and your other fingers on the bottom. Support the hand holding the Comod bottle on your free hand as shown. Tilt your head back slightly, gently pull down your lower eyelid with your free hand, and quickly and firmly press the center of the bottle's bottom. This activates the mechanism for dispensing a drop. Due to the special valve technology of the Comod system, the size and speed of the drop remain consistent, even with very firm pressure on the bottle's bottom. Close your eyes slowly to allow the liquid to spread evenly across the surface of the eye. After use, immediately and carefully replace the cap on the dropper tip. Please ensure the dropper tip is dry. Avoid contact between the dropper tip and your eye or facial skin while dispensing the drops. One bottle contains 10 ml of solution, which is approximately 300 drops. Due to manufacturing processes, a small amount of liquid will always remain in the bottle. There is no limit to the duration of Hylo Gel's use. The contents of one bottle of Hylo Gel should always be used for the same person.

What other instructions should be followed?
If you are also using other eye drops, you should wait at least 30 minutes between applications. Hylo Gel should always be applied last. Eye ointments should always be applied to the conjunctival sac after Hylo Gel. Because it is preservative-free, Hylo Gel is particularly well tolerated, even with prolonged use. In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., burning, watering) have been reported, which subside immediately after discontinuing Hylo Gel. Due to the viscosity of the preparation, temporary blurred vision is possible immediately after applying Hylo Gel. Hylo Gel relieves the symptoms of severe or chronic dry eyes. If your ophthalmologist permits you to wear contact lenses despite this condition, Hylo Gel can be used while wearing them. However, in these cases, you should expect some streaking on the contact lenses, which generally disappears after a few blinks. We recommend waiting approximately 30 minutes after inserting contact lenses before using the eye drops to avoid potential adverse reactions that may occur due to interactions between contact lens solutions and Hylo Gel. Based on current knowledge, Hylo Gel can also be used by children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women.

How often and for how long should Hylo Gel be used?
The dosage of Hylo Gel should be adjusted according to your individual needs and/or the recommendations of your ophthalmologist. Generally, you should instill 1 drop of Hylo Gel into the conjunctival sac of each eye 3 times a day. For more severe symptoms, Hylo Gel can be used more frequently throughout the day. If you use Hylo Gel more often (e.g., more than 10 times a day), consult your ophthalmologist. Hylo Gel is suitable for long-term use; however, as with any condition, you should consult an ophthalmologist if symptoms persist.

When should Hylo Gel not be used?
Hylo Gel should not be used if you are hypersensitive to any of its ingredients.

What are the storage instructions for Hylo Gel?
Do not store above 25°C. Once opened, Hylo Gel can be used for 6 months. Do not use after the expiry date. Keep out of reach of children.
