What is Hylo Night?
Hylo Night is a sterile, vitamin A-containing eye ointment for application to the eye.

Composition:
1 g of Hylo Night contains 250 IU of retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), liquid paraffin, liquid paraffin, lanolin, and white petrolatum. One tube contains 5 g.

Why is Hylo Night needed?
Hylo Night improves the tear film and protects the ocular surface. Hylo Night is a particularly soft and smooth eye ointment that spreads very well on the surface of the eye. The vitamin A it contains is a natural component of the tear film, which supports the ointment's good tolerability and ensures that the ointment mixes well with existing tears. This relieves the feeling of burning, dry, or tired eyes. The eyelids glide smoothly over the cornea and conjunctiva.

When should you use Hylo Night?
Burning or itchy eyes with a feeling of dryness or a foreign body sensation are common under the influence of air conditioning, for example in cars or airplanes, wind, cold, strong sunlight, poor air quality, or cigarette smoke. These symptoms can also occur due to concentrated vision, for example, during prolonged screen work, television viewing, or nighttime driving. The risk of these discomforts is even greater if you wear contact lenses. Hylo Night relieves these symptoms and forms a pleasant, long-lasting protective film on the eyes. The ointment's rich consistency leads to a slight impairment of vision. Therefore, Hylo Night should primarily be applied before going to bed. Any discomfort upon first opening your eyes in the morning can be prevented with Hylo Night.

How do you use Hylo Night?
Eye ointments should always be applied in such a way that contact between the tube tip and the eye or facial skin is avoided. Only use Hylo Night if the seal on the carton was intact before first use. Unscrew the cap of the tube. Tilt your head back slightly and gently pull your lower eyelid away from your eye with the finger of one hand. Hold the tube upright over your eye with your other hand. Apply a small amount of ointment into the conjunctival sac by gently squeezing the tube. Close your eyelids slowly. After use, carefully close the tube again.

What other instructions should be followed?
If you use Hylo Night during the day, you may experience temporary blurred vision due to its rich, oily consistency. You should not drive, actively participate in traffic, operate machinery, or perform tasks that require a secure footing. Hylo Night should not be used concurrently with other eye medications. In such cases, apply Hylo Night approximately 30 minutes after applying the eye medication. Please dispense the eye ointment by gently squeezing the tube without kinking or rolling it. Based on current knowledge, Hylo Night can also be used in children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. The contents of one tube of Hylo Night should always be used for the same person. In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions of the eyes (e.g., redness, burning, itching, watering) have been reported, which subsided immediately after discontinuing Hylo Night.

How often and for how long should Hylo Night be used?
The frequency of application depends on your individual symptoms and lifestyle. Hylo Night can complement the use of lubricating eye drops and is then applied once daily before bedtime. For pronounced dry eyes, Hylo Night is usually applied three times a day. If you feel you need Hylo Night more often, consult an ophthalmologist. There is no limit to the duration of use.

When should Hylo Night not be used?
Hylo Night should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of its ingredients. Hylo Night should not be administered while wearing contact lenses. Hylo Night should not be used immediately after eye surgery or in cases of acute eye injuries, as no clinical studies are available for these situations.

What are the storage instructions for Hylo Night?
Do not store above 25°C. Once opened, Hylo Night can be used for 6 months. Hylo Night should not be used after the expiry date. Keep Hylo Night out of the reach of children.
