Magnesium Verla film tablets are a mineral preparation and contain magnesium citrate 9H2O and magnesium L-glutamate tetrahydrate as active ingredients

Magnesium Verla film-coated tablets are used to supplement the daily magnesium requirement in the event of insufficient magnesium intake from food and drinking water.

Contraindications

Magnesium Verla film-coated tablets must not be used

• if you are allergic to magnesium citrate, magnesium L-glutamate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
• if you suffer from severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min) or lack of urination
• if you suffer from general dehydration
• if you tend to form certain stones (infection stones) in the urinary tract, which can occur with urinary tract infections (calcium magnesium ammonium phosphate stones, struvite stones). 

interactions

Magnesium Verla film-coated tablets should be taken approximately 3 - 4 hours apart from certain antibiotics (tetracyclines), iron or certain anti-osteoporosis drugs (sodium fluoride preparations) in order to avoid mutual impairment of absorption into the blood.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

Magnesium Verla film-coated tablets may be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

application

Adults and adolescents over 14 years:
1-2 film-coated tablets 3 times a day

Children from 10-14 years:
1 film-coated tablet 2-3 times a day

Children from 6-9 years:
1 film-coated tablet 1-2 times a day

Children under 6 years of age:
There is insufficient experience with the use of Magnesium Verla film-coated tablets in children under 6 years of age. Magnesium Verla film-coated tablets should therefore not be used in children under 6 years of age.

Patients with renal impairment:
careful dosing is required in patients with mild and moderate renal impairment (see section 2).
Magnesium Verla film-coated tablets must not be used in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min) (see section 2).

Method and duration of administration
The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with a little water. Magnesium Verla film-coated tablets should be taken before meals as this improves the absorption of magnesium into the bloodstream.
It is recommended to take it for 4 weeks. Long-term therapy (for years) is also harmless with normal kidney function, since excess magnesium is excreted via the kidneys.

side effects

Uncommonly (affects 1 to 10 users in 1,000) loose stools or diarrhea may occur, but this is easily resolved by reducing the daily dose or stopping it for a while.

Rarely (1 to 10 patients in 10,000) symptoms of tiredness can occur after high-dose administration, particularly in the case of kidney dysfunction. This can be an indication that an increased magnesium concentration in the blood has already been reached. In this case, discontinue use or reduce the dose after consulting your doctor.

Magnesium citrate 9H2O and magnesium L-glutamate tetrahydrate 1 film-coated tablet contains trimagnesium dicitrate nonahydrate 436.8 mg and magnesium L-glutamate tetrahydrate 165.4 mg corresponding to 60 mg (= 2.5 mmol) magnesium
