Magnesium Verla Granulat is a mineral preparation and contains magnesium L-hydrogen aspartate dihydrate as an active ingredient.

Magnesium Verla Granules are used to supplement the daily magnesium requirement in the event of insufficient magnesium intake from food and drinking water. 

Contraindications

Magnesium Verla granules must not be used

• if you are allergic to magnesium L-hydrogen aspartate dihydrate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
• if you suffer from severe kidney dysfunction (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min) or lack of urination
• if you suffer from general dehydration
• If you have a tendency to form certain stones (infectious stones) in the urinary tract that can occur with urinary tract infections (calcium magnesium ammonium phosphate stones, struvite stones). 

interactions

Magnesium Verla granules should be taken approximately 3 - 4 hours apart from certain antibiotics (tetracyclines), iron or certain anti-osteoporosis drugs (sodium fluoride preparations) in order to avoid mutual impairment of absorption into the blood.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

Magnesium Verla Granules may be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. 

application

Adults and adolescents over 14 years:
2-3 times a day the contents of a 5 g sachet

Children from 10-14 years:
1-2 times a day the contents of a 5 g sachet

Children from 6-9 years:
once a day the contents of half to a whole sachet of 5 g

Children under 6 years of age:
There is insufficient experience with the use of Magnesium Verla granules in children under 6 years of age. Magnesium Verla Granules should therefore not be used in children under the age of 6 years.

Patients with renal impairment:
Careful dosing is required in patients with mild and moderate renal impairment. (see section 2). Magnesium Verla granules must not be used in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min). (see section 2)

Method and duration of use
Mix the contents of one sachet with half a glass of water, mineral water, tea or fruit juice and drink.
Magnesium Verla Granules should be taken before meals as this improves the absorption of magnesium into the bloodstream.
It is recommended to take it for 4 weeks. Long-term therapy (for years) is also harmless with normal kidney function, since excess magnesium is excreted via the kidneys.

side effects

Uncommonly (1 to 10 users in 1000) loose stools or diarrhea may occur, but this is easily resolved by reducing the daily dose or stopping it for a while.

Rarely (1 to 10 patients in 10,000) symptoms of tiredness can occur after high-dose administration, particularly in the case of kidney dysfunction. This can be an indication that an increased magnesium concentration in the blood has already been reached. In this case, stop taking it or reduce the dose after consulting your doctor.
