Kytta pain ointment is a herbal medicine for the external treatment of
- joint and muscle pain
- Pain and swelling in knee joint arthrosis due to wear and tear or cartilage wear
- Acute muscle pain (myalgia) in the back area
- Sprains, bruises and strains after sports and accident injuries
Kytta pain ointment is used in adults, adolescents and children from 3 years of age.
If you do not feel better or worse after 3-4 days, contact your doctor.
Contraindications
Kytta pain ointment must not be used
- if you are allergic to comfrey, peanut, soya or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- Kytta pain ointment must not be applied to open wounds.

Pregnancy and lactation
Due to insufficient data, use during pregnancy and lactation cannot be recommended.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
application
The recommended dose is:
Adults, adolescents and children from 3 years:
Depending on the size of the body part to be treated and the severity of the symptoms, apply a large amount of the ointment to the affected part of the body 2 to 4 times a day and massage in carefully so that a thin film of ointment forms on the skin .
As a guide, the following amounts are recommended:
- for the treatment of ankle injuries and knee arthrosis: 2 g (equivalent to a 6 cm strand of ointment).
- for the treatment of back pain: 4 g (equivalent to a 12 cm strand of ointment).
If necessary, the affected joint can be supported with a bandage after the ointment has been applied. Airtight, occlusive bandages should be avoided.

Use in children
In children from 3 to 12 years, the duration of use is limited to 7 days.
Children from 3 to 6 years of age should only be used on the recommendation of a doctor. Children under 3 years of age:
no clinical data on efficacy and safety or dosage in children under 3 years of age are available. In the absence of sufficient data, use in children under 3 years of age cannot be recommended.
side effects
Localized skin reactions may occur due to the excipients. Kytta pain ointment can lead to hypersensitivity reactions. They are expressed in the appearance of skin reactions.
Immune system disorders:
- Generalized hypersensitivity reactions affecting the skin (e.g. redness, itching, hives, rashes not specific to the site of application and sudden swelling of the face, eyelids and around the mouth), gastrointestinal (e.g. e.g. abdominal pain, nausea), the eyes (e.g. allergic conjunctivitis) or the respiratory tract (e.g. allergic rhinitis, difficult breathing and convulsions).
- Hypersensitivity reactions at the application site
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders:
- Localized skin irritation (contact dermatitis), pain, eczema, itching, rash, burning sensation on the skin, redness, lumps and blisters at the treated area.
Due to the alcohol content, frequent use on the skin may cause irritation or inflammation and dry skin.

The active substance is: liquid extract from fresh comfrey root
100 g contain 35 g liquid extract from fresh comfrey root (Symphyti radix recens, drug-extract ratio (DEV) 1:2), extraction agent: ethanol 60% (v/v)
The other ingredients are:
parabens ((iso)butyl, ethyl, methyl, propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, phenoxyethanol), cetostearyl alcohol, glycerol monostearate, sodium laurilsulfate, peanut oil, purified water, lavender oil, pine needle oil, perfume oil special (contains benzyl benzoate , rosemary oil).
