A quick and gentle alternative to natural laxatives are mini enemas with only 5 ml such as MICROLAX®.

Due to the purely local effect in the rectum, the intestinal tract remains unaffected, you do not need to fear any intestinal dependency.

Thanks to the proven, very good tolerability, MICROLAX® can
even be used during pregnancy and with babies. The onset of action of MICROLAX® can usually be expected within 5-20 minutes. This is how MICROLAX® frees you quickly and plannably so that you can enjoy everyday life unhindered.

  • Relieves constipation quickly and predictably, usually in 5-20 minutes
  • No risk of bowel habituation
  • Gentle and problem-free application even for babies
  • Mini tube is thinner than a suppository

field of use

In the case of constipation, the intestinal contents are collected in the rectum and most of the water is removed. The stool becomes hard and dry. Even hard stools still contain a relatively large amount of water. This is where the effect of Microlax begins. The water bound in the hardened stool is released, which softens the thickened stool so that the bowel can be emptied easily and without symptoms.

Microlax acts directly on the stool and not on the intestinal wall, ie there is no irritation of the intestinal mucosa. It is not absorbed through the intestinal mucosa. Any excess is excreted with the stool, which means that there are no delayed bowel movements.

The gentle emptying occurs within 5 to 20 minutes.

Microlax is applied

  • for blockages in the area of the rectum in adults and children, as in

- chronically suppressed urge to defecate (travel, work)
- certain illnesses, e.g. B. multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease
- unbalanced diet (low-fiber diet, lack of fluids)
- mental disorders, stress, depression, etc.
- medication, e.g. B. iron preparations, etc. can occur.

  • to facilitate bowel movements after operations, in pregnancy and obstetrics, in elderly or bedridden patients, in high-risk patients and children
  • for colon cleansing prior to rectal endoscopy

If you do not feel better or if you feel worse, contact your doctor.

Contraindications

Do not use Microlax if you are allergic to sodium citrate, sodium dodecyl(sulfoacetate), sorbitol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

interactions

Because of the risk of damage to the intestinal wall, Microlax, due to its sorbitol content, should not be used concomitantly with oral or rectal exchange resins for the treatment of elevated serum potassium levels.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Microlax may be used during pregnancy and lactation.

application

Microlax is a single-use ready-to-use enema for rectal use:

  • Hold the tube by the bottom neck and pull off the cap with a slight twist.
  • To facilitate the insertion of the tube neck, by squeezing out a drop, the tip is moistened and the drop is distributed.
  • In adults, the neck of the tube should be fully inserted into the rectum.
  • The tube is squeezed vigorously to empty the contents into the rectum.
  • To avoid backflow of the solution into the tube, the tube must remain compressed until it is completely removed from the rectum.

Microlax can be administered in the patient's most comfortable position; it is not necessary to lie down during the 5-minute indwelling period that should be observed.

Adults, adolescents and children over 3 years apply a tube if necessary. In stubborn cases, a second tube may be necessary.

Use in children under 3 years of age
For children under 3 years of age only half a tube should be used and only half of the tube neck should be inserted into the rectum (see marking on the tube neck).

If only part of the enema content is used, the remaining rectal solution should be discarded.

If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
