As soon as you suck the Mucoangin® lozenge, the local anesthetic ambroxol has an analgesic effect. The active ingredient penetrates deeply and sore throats are specifically combated where they arise.
Mucoangin® against sore throat: quickly relieves pain in the inflamed areas of the throat, has a long-lasting effect (at least three hours) and reduces the redness in the throat in the event of a sore throat. Mucoangin® is available in mint and currant flavors.

field of use

Mucoangin currant contains the active ingredient ambroxol hydrochloride. The active ingredient is the part of the lozenge that provides the desired effect of the treatment.

Mucoangin Currant has a local analgesic effect that relieves pain associated with acute sore throat.

Mucoangin currant is applied

  • for pain relief in acute sore throat.

If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 3 days, contact your doctor.

Contraindications

Mucoangin Blackcurrant should not be used if you are allergic to ambroxol hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6). 

interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Ambroxol passes into the unborn child's body. You should not use Mucoangin Blackcurrant during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester.

Ambroxol passes into breast milk. You should not use Mucoangin Currant while breastfeeding.

application

The recommended dose is:

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age suck 1 lozenge as needed for pain relief. You should not suck more than 6 tablets throughout the day.

You should not use Mucoangin Blackcurrant for more than 3 days. If your symptoms persist after 3 days or if you have a high fever, you must see a doctor.

Clinical trials have shown that the local analgesic effect can be felt within 20 minutes. The effect lasts at least 3 hours.

side effects

If you notice any of the following side effects, you must stop using Mucoangin currant and contact your doctor immediately:

  • Allergic reactions with localized swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue and/or throat (angioedema). These can cause a feeling of tightness in the throat, swallowing and breathing difficulties.
  • Immediate hypersensitivity reactions affecting the whole body (anaphylactic reactions including anaphylactic shock).

The severity of allergic reactions may increase if you use the medicine again, or if you are taking a medicine with the same active substance (see also “Do not use Mucoangin Blackcurrant”).

Other side effects that may occur:

Common: may affect up to 1 in 10 people

  • nausea
  • numbness of the mouth, tongue and throat (oral and pharyngeal hypoesthesia)
  • altered taste sensation (dysgeusia)

Uncommon: may affect up to 1 in 100 people

  • Diarrhea
  • Indigestion (Dyspepsia)
  • epigastric pain
  • dry mouth

Rare: may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people

  • hypersensitivity reactions
  • Rash, hives
  • dryness in the throat

Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data

(An exact frequency estimate is not possible because the side effect did not occur in the study database with 1226 patients. The frequency is probably no greater than "uncommon", but may be lower.)

  • allergic reactions up to anaphylactic shock, angioedema (rapidly developing swelling of the skin, subcutaneous tissue, mucous membrane or tissue under the mucous membrane) and itching
  • severe skin reactions (including erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis).
  • Vomit
