Mucobene 200 mg 20 dissolvable tablets
Mucobene 200 mg 20 dissolvable tablets
The active ingredient acetylcysteine contained in Mucobene 200 mg soluble tablets liquefies viscous mucus in the respiratory tract.
Mucobene 200 mg dissolvable tablets are suitable as additional therapy together with plenty of liquid, to loosen mucus and to facilitate expectoration in respiratory diseases (lungs and bronchi).
If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 4 to 5 days, contact your doctor.
Contraindications
Mucobene 200 mg dissolvable tablets must not be used
- if you are allergic to acetylcysteine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- if you suffer from the rare hereditary metabolic disease "phenylketonuria" (see "Mucobene 200 mg soluble tablets contain aspartame and sodium")
- by children under 2 years of age
interactions
The effect of certain antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, tetracyclines) can be reduced. Therefore, these antibiotics should be taken at least 2 hours before or after administration of Mucobene 200 mg soluble tablets. This does not apply to the antibiotics cefixime and loracarbef.
Activated charcoal in high doses (e.g. as an antidote for poisoning) can reduce the effectiveness of Mucobene 200 mg soluble tablets.
If Mucobene 200 mg dissolvable tablets are used at the same time as antitussive medicines, a dangerous build-up of secretions can occur due to the restricted cough reflex. Your doctor will carefully consider whether you should use both medicines at the same time. It is therefore essential to consult your doctor before combined use.
If glycerol trinitrate (medicine used to treat circulatory disorders in the heart muscle [angina pectoris]) is administered at the same time, its effect can be increased.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using this medicine.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Since there is not enough experience with the use of acetylcysteine during pregnancy and breast-feeding, you should only use Mucobene 200 mg soluble tablets during pregnancy and while breast-feeding if the doctor treating you considers it absolutely necessary.
Fertility
There are no data on the influence of acetylcysteine on fertility.
