Inspiration
Old knowledge about the recipe
PADMA ACIBEN is inspired by an ancient recipe (Cong zhi 6, Tibetan for: calcium carbonate 6) from Tibetan constitutional theory. The name stands for the six ingredients and the eponymous calcium carbonate.
The Tibetan constitutional theory uses herbs and spices that are found in a balanced diet. Minerals and other micronutrients are also used, such as calcium carbonate in this case. It was already known back then that calcium carbonate had neutralizing properties, sometimes affecting digestive energies.
The strong rhizome of elecampane has an aromatic smell, which is why it should be in every spice cupboard. This was the case at least in the 4th century. Chewing elecampane is said to refine the sense of taste. High-fat dishes in particular were and still are seasoned with elecampane today. Along with saffron and vanilla, cardamom is one of the most precious spices. Pomegranates contain fruit acids and minerals, including calcium.
