Postinor-2 tablets are used as an emergency contraceptive for use within 72 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse or after a contraceptive method used in adults.

Detailed product information

Postinor-2 is an emergency contraceptive that can be used within 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected intercourse or failure of the usual contraceptive method. It will not prevent pregnancy in any case and is more effective if you use it as soon as possible (within 12 hours) after unprotected intercourse. It works by preventing eggs from being released from the ovary and preventing sperm from fertilizing any egg that may already be released. Postinor-2 is not an "abortion pill" (it can not interrupt the pregnancy).

Dosage:

Take both tablets at the same time and as soon as possible (preferably within 12 hours, but not later than 72 hours after unprotected intercourse). If it occurs within 3 hours of swallowing tablets, it is necessary to take two new tablets. This product can be taken at any time during the menstrual cycle.

After using Postinor, it is recommended to use the local barrier method (eg condom, cervical pessary, spermicide, vaginal pessary) until the start of the next menstrual cycle. Emergency contraception is a method of occasional use (does not replace any regular contraception method) and prevents pregnancy in all circumstances.

Composition:

The active substance is levonorgestrel 750 micrograms per tablet.

The other ingredients are colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, talc, corn starch, potato starch, lactose monohydrate (71.25 mg).

Notice:

Postinor-2 is only used in emergencies. After using Postinor-2, it is recommended to visit the attending physician about 3 weeks to see if Postinor-2 has been effective. If your menstrual period is delayed for more than 5 days or is weak or abnormally strong, contact your doctor immediately. If you become pregnant despite the use of this medicine, it is important that you visit your doctor.
Your doctor may also tell you about long-term contraceptive methods that are more effective in preventing pregnancy.

Read the package leaflet carefully before taking this medicine because it contains important information for you.
